<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ESPN - Still at a stage in its infancy in which management can make such goodwill gestures without affecting the future, Charlotte has publicly promised point guard Brevin Knight that it won't trade him somewhere without Knight's consent, like the Bobcats did last season with Steve Smith before sending Smith to Miami. However ... With rookie Raymond Felton looking increasingly competent playing next to Knight, Charlotte might be unable to resist parting with the veteran before the Feb. 23 trading deadline, lest anything happens to start decreasing Knight's value after a solid season and a half with the expansionists. At a salary of less than $4-plus million this season and the next two seasons, Knight holds appeal to teams looking for reasonably priced know-how at the point. With Charlotte's season in ruins anyway -- with Emeka Okafor expected to miss another five to seven weeks and the Bobcats carrying an injured list as long as anyone's -- dealing Knight during the next three weeks makes more sense as Felton progresses.</div> http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...de_more_likely/
A lot of teams could use Brevin Knight, I just don't see him asking to be traded. He said he wants to mentor Raymond Felton until Felton is ready to replace him as the starter.
Yes, your right. They need a SG who can put up 20ppg and that can take a game over in the clutch. I've watched most of their games and they can hang around with teams till the end but they just don't have that one guy who can make the big shots.
Would the Bobcats be interested in David Wesley for Knight? Wesley's shooting 39% from 3 and averaging 11 ppg and 3 apg, and is a solid defender...we could definitely use Knight as a backup PG...
Bobcats wouldn't go for that, neither would any other team and you know it You failed to mention that Wesley shoots 40% from the field also. Brevin is in the top 5 for assists this season. Brevin > Wesley. Other teams would offer much more for Brevin.
3 way with CLE and CHI Charlotte: Outgoing: Brevin Knight Incoming: Ben Gordon CLE: Outgoing: Drew Gooden, 1st round pick Incoming: Brevin Knight CHI: Outgoing: Ben Gordon Incoming: Drew Gooden, 1st Round pick (CLE)
^ That's actually a pretty fair deal. Ben Gordon would be the perfect player for the Bobcats, because he is a good shooter and can perform in the clutch.
I know you need a two-guard and Felton is the long-term option at the 1, but i think it's a rather silly move to look to trade Brev. The guy is a superb passer and his defence is great as well. Obviously he has weaknesses (like the lack of a jumper, injuries etc.), but right now he's keeping you guys afloat. The only way i'd trade him is if there was a legit stud coming in as a result of selling Brev whilst his stock is high.
Reuniting Gordon and Okafor is interesting. The deal makes sense for all three teams, but the Bulls would demand Gooden be extended before they agreed. I don't see Brevin agreeing to this deal on a personal level. He doesn't put Cleveland ahead of Miami or Detroit, plus I don't think he's ever forgot the raw deal he got in Cleveland. They never gave him a chance to succeed there, and quickly added Andre Miller as his replacement. If it's up to Brevin I think he chooses Golden State (reunites with Montgomery & loves the Bay Area), San Antonio or Detroit. Warriors have a lot of young pieces Mickael Pietrus, Biedrins, Murphy, Dunleavy plus some trade exceptions. Today Bernie re-affirmed Knight is not available unless he wants to be traded to a contender.
