The Los Angeles Lakers were able to land Bryant as a rookie in 1996 by dealing Vlade Divac to the Charlotte Hornets for his draft rights. And if the Suns truly have desire to go after the embattled NBA superstar - or other top-level free agents - this summer, their best bet may be dealing with the league's newest franchise - the expansion Charlotte Bobcats."</div> Full Article: http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/0112suns0112.html
Yo, change the title of this thread...it says hornets...I thought it mean him and baron davis in the same backcourt...
Well the article is about Kobe being in Phoenix... not sure why the title is he would be a Bobcat. The article was interesting and I did learn that teams can BRIBE the Bobcats to pick their players in the draft... and then the Bobcats can CUT players they draft and not have it count against their cap. I believe the Suns may end up taking this road... why not offer 1 of your 2 1st round picks to Charlotte for them to take Howard Eisley's $6.375 million next year (nearly $7 million the following year) giving the Suns just enough room to sign a free agent, like Kobe. Being an expansion team sounds like fun... start fresh, pick your entire roster, get bribed with draft picks and money, be able to cut players without taking cap hits, be in the same division as Atlanta, Miami, Orlando and Washington (Charlotte may win the division next year), have a mascot with a stupid name like Rufus, and wear ORANGE jerseys!! Where can I get an expansion team? Maybe NBA Live 2005 should give us the option of starting our own expansion team... that would own!
If Kobe goes any where, it will be the other L.A. Team, or Memphis, bet i have a feeling that we will be seeing him in LA Purple and Gold for a long time....Pending his legal issues
Ther eare sooo many rumours flying around. If Kobe indeed goes to the Bobcats, then Kobe gteds his own team. He gets to be a leader and be an immediate help to the bobcats. I think this could be one of the three possibilities. The second one is that he obviously stays with the lakers however with Shaq, Malone and Payton's retirement in sight i dont quite know. The last one I would expect is thhat he goes to the Suns. THey have freed up cap space and he gets to play with marion amare and there is alot of growing room with this team.
The article doesn't say anything about Kobe going to the Bobcats, which is rightly so since it would never happen. And again, Kobe likely isn't going anywhere. He's staying a Laker. I hadn't thought about how teams would offer draft pick bribes along with pricey veterans. That's great for us, and I hope that Tapscott and Bickerstaff take full advantage of that to land at least one more first round pick, hopefully early to middle in the round, or perhaps even two more. Reality says that the team is gonna suck, whether they have veterans or youth. So we might as well build with youth immediately to be good in a couple years.
Kobe wants to prove that he can win by himself, and I'm sure being a Bobcat would help him prove his point. I don't think he can win without Shaq anyways. But I doubt he's going to Charlotte.

I doubt he can win without another superstar wherever he goes, but that's neithe here nor there.
Kobe a Bobcat???? I don't think so....I think the last thing on his mind is to play on an expansion team. Unless the Lakers leave him unprotected(Has hell frozen over yet?), he will never be a bobcat
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kevinduncan_21:</div><div class="quote_post">I heard Kobe was gonna go to Orlando, while Tracy McGrady goes to the BobCats.</div> Where did you see T-mac going to the bobcats?
Well, Kobe did say he was going to look over his options when he became a free agent, but I don't think he's going to Charlotte.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting femalehooper:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe aint going no where...the Laker's would be crazy to get rid of him!</div> It's not whether the Lakers would get rid of him or not, ofcourse they want to keep him no matter what. The question is will Kobe stay? I think so.
