Here's a quote from a thread in the Lakers forum.... <div class="quote_poster">bruin007 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">There's speculation Kobe instructed his agent to push for a trade between the Lakers and the Magic... I'm assuming its becuase he wants to play with Dwight... in that case what could the Magic offer if Dwight were untouchable? This saga is beginning to seem more and more real like a bad nightmare that isnt a nightmare at all but reality...</div> Then shapecity proposed a deal that was Rashard Lewis(S&T), Darko Milcic(S&T), Carlos Arroyo, and 2008 and 2010 1sts for Kobe. shape seemed to think that it was possible for the Magic to sign Shard before we sign Darko so that we can sign them both(Not sure how true that is though). I think it might be possible that we sign Shard in early July and then match another teams offer sheet for Darko in later July and go over the salary cap that way, but I'm not too sure. So my question to you is would you guys do that trade or would you rather just keep Shard/Darko if we sign them? Also feel free to propose any other potential deals that you can see the Magic making.... Lineup 1(without deal) PG-Jameer SG-Hedo/JJ/Ariza SF-Shard PF-Darko C-Dwight Lineup 2(with deal) PG-Jameer SG-Kobe SF-Hedo/JJ/Ariza PF-Battie/Gortat/other C-Dwight
I kinka like the first line up with shard better. Kobes good, but i like the core that orlando has and i would be dissapointed if they blew it up for a guy who hasnt won a championship by hisself yet.
If we only get rid of Arroyo and Darko I am up for the trade. We would be instant contenders for the Eastern Conf. title. We would have to keep JJ and Ariza. We would be pretty amazing if this could happen. Inside outside game that would rival any other team in the league.
if this happened i would be pretty pissed as a laker fan. i wouldnt mind getting rid of kobe, but for shard and darko and ****** aroyo? i think we could better from the bulls, or even the knicks! those players in return would send lakers to the very bottom of the wins record in the league. But the magic would get the biggest steal of the history of the NBA. that would emmediatly make you number one in the east, without a doubt, number one. Kobe, Dwight and Jameer would become the big three of the league, you would never have to worry about scoring, plus with ariza and JJ and Hedo you guys could be instantly in the top 3 of the east. but i doubt the lakers let this happen, im sure that if kobe wants to go he'll go to bulls, he knows theyre are already on the edge of contending, so he'd be sure of making the conference finals or finals with them, seems like a bit of a cop-out on his behalf, i mean any other player in the league would just accept the fact that theyve just got to wotk harder, you dont see tmac whining about not making out of the first do you? and we dont hear KG complaining at all. alot of players are much worse off then him, yet he beleives he deserves special treatment, for what? its not as if the owners and managers of the team are the ones who are out there getting the wins, its the players, and kobe hasnt got what he wants so he has decided to blame others for his mistakes. what a dickhead.

PG-Farmar/Arroyo SG-Shard SF-Odom PF-Darko C-Bynum That is a very good young nucleus, plus you have much more trade bait around the league. It wouldn't compete right away, but Kobe and [insert star here] also wouldn't compete and you would be much worse off. Darko/Bynum would have the potential to be a great big duo. Honestly I think Darko would excel in the triangle(although I guess Phil Jackson would leave if Kobe is traded) with his passing ability and ability to hit the outside jump shot. Like Laker fans say anyone is better than Smush at the PG spot. Then you would have more cap space once Arroyo, Kwame, and Odom's contracts end within the next 2 years. tbh, the Lakers would be better off with that lineup in the long term then if they deal Odom and Bynum for JO. Lakers wouldn't be good enough to win a championship with Kobe/JO and scrubs and they would be absolutely screwed for the next 2-3 years and Kobe opts out because their only flexibility in a trade is Luke Walton, Jordan Farmar and Kwame Brown's 8 mil expiring. Kwame's injury definitely lowers his value. I don't know many stars you can get for that. I agree with you on a much lesser extent about Kobe. I don't understand why most Laker fans are backing Kobe and saying that he is right because the Laker organization "lied" to him. There isn't much trade bait for them to go after guys. The Laker organization is trying, trust me it isn't a conspiracy theory to get rid of Kobe. They aren't thinking to themselves on how to screw Kobe the most. Most of the rumors were based on the media and have almost no credibility. I respect the Buss's and Kupchak for not sacrificing their future for a slim chance to compete for a title by getting a disgruntled star. Teams tell their players that they will try to get help for them, just like they told Kobe. Those players don't demand trades and tell the organization that they lied in the media. Before Laker fans come on here telling me that I don't know what they are going for, remember Tmac? The same exact thing happened and I hate Tmac now for giving up on the Magic. I just don't understand how the true Laker fans and not just Kobe fan boys aren't fed up with Kobe and want him dealt.
Rashard Lewis <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">PG-Farmar/Arroyo SG-Shard SF-Odom PF-Darko C-Bynum</div> Rashard is a SF/PF, not a SG, that is a very interesting lineup, it's big, but defensively there will be some problems on the perimeter.
<div class="quote_poster">bruin007 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I might be having a brain fart but who is Shard?</div> Rashard Lewis from Seattle
I like the second option better obviously, but this has to be the pipe dream of all pipe dreams. It would be very tough for us to package a deal to LA that doesn't include Dwight, and Dwight better be untouchable(never know with our front office). Kobe and Dwight would be very insane for many years to come in the East. With Kobe and Dwight you could just grab 3 other pickup guys from your local court and we'd still be contending with Miami and Cleveland for a finals birth. Orlando would truly give Kobe a team of his own if he can win here(or any other untapped team for that matter). LA, NY, Chicago, they are all well established teams with long histories. No matter what Kobe does in LA or Chicago he will always be playing under the shadows of Magic and Jordan. But, as far as that trade goes that has us sending our 1st rounders in 2008, 2010. I don't think it's as good as it sounds because what kind of picks would those really be? With Kobe on our team and us in the East those picks would be at the bottom of the 1st. We need more to get Kobe and we just don't have it unfortunately. Edit: 1 more thing. How would Kobe get along with SVG?
