They're saying 6 weeks. But that's just an expert opinion. They're running an MRI on him tommorow and one of the medical staff members said it was one of the worst sprains he's ever seen.... not looking good for Kobe Bryant.

He will not be out there. My guess is 3-5 weeks, and that's being optomistic.

    Kobe addressing the media

Kobe was going on about how the Lakers stepped up and all that, and once TNT asked him a question, Kobe said and I quote:

"DAMN YOU CHARLES!! YOU JINXED US, AND YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!"

The reason why Kobe said this was because during an earlier broadcast, Charles said that "the Lakers are an injury away from the lottery."

It's about time someone stepped up to Charles Barkeley at TNT. He just makes the rudest assessments about teams sometimes.

I think the lakers proved something against the cavs. the cavs are a sound team and the lakers stepped it up without Kobe and beat them. this was a very good accomplishment for the whole laker organization.

3-5 weeks? thats a bit long dont you think? im just praying that the injury wont take that long to heal.

but this could give players like Luke and Sasha more PT, giving them a chance to better their game.

This injury will really show if the Lakers have something going for them besides a guy named Kobe. Also, this will show if Lamar and Caron are actual players.

Right now Kobe injury is not a good thing to be happeing at this time for the Lakers.I heard that on TV,that his injury wasn't that critical, but i guess i had received the wrong information.

I Hope his injury isn't as bad as what is being said now.How do you guys feel about this at this point in the season??

I never saw the injury. I went to bed very early last night and caught the Bottom Line on Sportscenter saying his was injured in the first quarter. How bad did it look and how did it happen?

now we have to worry about the lakers making the playoffs....i think they wree destined for lottery ...... but they will gel and play team ball..... there will be no black hole hogging the ball....no more ego..... lamar odom's chains are removed from him... this can only benefit the team..... they will grow together and unite....... and become a stronger Team..... hopefully the black hole wont be back for the all star game as he does not deserve to start ahead of ray allen or tracy mcgrady or jason richardson for that matter.....

i see this only as a positive for the league and for the lakers....

remember the kings without WEbber last year? how they came together and played much better....

and then WEbber came back and he was an absolute detriment to the team....

i expect the same thing to happen here.... odom and butler will now take the team over and the ball will actually be shared..... they will no longer stand around watching the black hole with the ball.... and when the black hole comes back....he will not fit in....

proof is right there ..... as soon as the injury happened the lakers were a different and better team.... what a cohesive unit that beat Cavs.....

    cheers charles.....

How was that a rude assessment? The Lakers ARE a lottery team without Kobe. The Wolves are a lottery team without Garnett, and the Rockets are a lottery team without McGrady. That seems pretty obvious to me.

Haha it's Charles Barkely's fault, it's not a rude assesment at all, just an obvious statement, the Lakers lose Odom or Kobe especially, and their team is in serious trouble, just like any other team that losses one of their best players.

6 weeks is a lot, that will definately hurt, but the team looked good yesterday.

I hope that Kenny and Charles asumption that this may be a blessing for Lamar and Caron to step up their games are right. And like I said before so when Kobe comes back the defenders will have to respect 2 other players then just Kobe. So Kobe can get some single coverage and the Lakers aren't known as the just a one man team anymore.

i had a similar type injury where i rolled my ankle forward and out...what they were afraid of with kobes injury was that like my injury, kobe will have torn ligaments in his ankle similar to what rick fox did a couple years ago...

its been just over a year since i hurt myself and im just getting back out onto the courts now...so it could be bad...but hopefully it isnt...

Yea I was thinking the same thing, it could work in the sense that they all step up, and when Kobe comes back, those guys are more involved in the offense, and the Lakers aren't so "one dimensional" offensively, or it could work in the way that they step up, but then when Kobe comes back he still plays the same way, and that wouldn't work too well.

It's not good, but a positive can come from the negative

Ok,what does Webber have to do with Kobe and his injury?? There really is no comparison with Kobe and Webber, and yeah My Kings did play better without Webber, but that is irrelevant with Kobe's injury at this time.

At least nothing is broken. Thats a good thing, and they will be at home for at least 8 home games in a row which will help too. Get well Kobe. We need you for the playoffs!

    Time for Kidd or Arroyo

With Kobe out and the team going through a chemistry change, this would be the perfect time to get a real point guard and work him in to the system. Kidd would be great, but Arroyo is good short term solution and now is the time. Get off your butt Cupcake and make a deal.

If the Lakers want to keep winning and win like they did against the Cavs, Odom and Caron are going to have to step up tremendously. If not then what can I say, without your leader it's hard to win games. In my opinion lottery seems very possible at this point if Kobe is out for a significant amount of time. But you never know witrh basketball, impossible is nothing especially to most Lakers fans.

Well he's been put on the injured list, so he's going to miss at least 5 games. I think he will miss 3-5 weeks.
