According to an article in the New York Daily News, a source close to Kobe Bryant as well as a team official in the Knicks organization, have said that Kobe Bryant's first choice at the end of his contract would be to play for the Knicks. Kobe Bryant playing in New York however is highly unlikely considering that the Knicks are over the salary cap. I know what has been said all over the media about Kobe leaving, and it's fun to speculate. But the harsh reality is that he's staying with LA. The Lakers know that Shaq is their best player, but after he's gone they're gonna build around Kobe, who will hopefully be mature enough by then to be able to carry the team.
