"We'll win Tuesday."</div> What do you guys think of that? it's scaring me. It would be funny if the Lakers lost though. Wouldnt Kobe feel salty, eh?
Man Kobe, this might be another TMac incinident. Everything is going to be on HIS shoulders on Tuesday just because of that quote. Oh, and you WILL see this get hyped up by the announcers and Hanna Storm and all of them will be in his face about it.

I'll tell you what, I the Lakers get no production from any of the other players, they aren't winning Game 5. Kobe and Shaq will not be able to carry this team on their shoulders, the team is tired and discombobulated. They are whinning and crying and I'm sure their possibly arguing with each other in the locker room.
at least kobe is showing he cares and wants to win. it seems everyone else is just watching the series. i dont think kobe has anything to lose with that comment. if they win, he looks like mark messier, if they lose then it will look like he was just trying to get some life into the walking dead lakers. you can say he will eat his words, but it isnt like they are up 3-1 then makes it and loses, then thats more like eating your words. in this case they are getting outplayed in every aspect of the game and you expect the same in game 5. so somebody has to at least care enough to call his team out and try to get it back to la where they can have some kind of shot. at this rate, you kind of expect detroit to dominate again and win. so if la loses, then it is just that kobes prediction was good enough motivation. i don't really think he can get embarrased or look like a fool if they dont win g5.
Well of course he is going to say that, what is he supposed to say this series is over or somethin? He can say this but is easier said then done, even if the Lakers do win game 5 I still dont see them winning 2 more games in a row.
Kobe Bryant is making himself look like a complete idiot. Why say this bull**** when you were one of the reasons why we lost Game 4?? You completely ignore Shaq out of our offense which should be first and foremost our #1 priority, you crack jokes with the media, you bring ego and cockiness into the reasons why we lost Game 4 instead of pointing a finger at yourself, now you come out of nowhere and say we are going to win Game 5 in a much more hostile enviornment in Detroit? Ok, let's see.....if the Lakers can somehow stay out of the penalty in the early stages of the game, if Kobe can learn to not be selfish and realize everything doesn't revolve around him all the time, and if Shaq can have a better performance and receive more field goal opportunities, then yeah maybe we'll have a chance. But all this prediction nonsense is unacceptable. And he doesn't feel those words will get into the Detroit locker room?? If Kobe wants to fulfill this prediction, he better make sure he comes strong with his A game and the role players around him. If he fails along with his prediction, I'll make sure to slam him. Kobe is my favorite player, but if he needs to be exposed, I'll be sure to criticize him.
What a bold statement just knowing how flat my Lakers have looked in Detroit. The stagnant offense in Game 3 where everybody just seemed to look confused to the collapse of last night's game in the 4th quarter. To make matters worse, how will he provide offense if Detroit is running three guys at him?? Heh, as a Laker fan, whatever is left in the tank concerning this team will be very interesting to see, but as far as I'm concerned, this series is over.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting InNETSweTrust:</div><div class="quote_post">He should've said: "We have to win on Tuesday."</div> Exact quote that he should of said. But he said they would win, which makes everything on him. If he said "We will win the series" then it would be more suprising.
He's obviously trying to pull a SHEED (game 2 of the Pistons-Pacers series). The difference being that the Pistons were in the previous game and gave it up, that's why he said that. The Lakers don't look like much of a threat, that's why this statement might come back to haunt him. I'm personally pleading for the Lakers to win the next game (but not the series) because I hate to see a great cast of players just collapse like this. If they were going to stink up the finals, they should've just stepped aside and let the Wolves play. The only hope the Lakers have is if SHEED does something stupid and gets suspended.
The only positive I see from his comment was he's taking it game by game instead of saying the Lakers will come back and win the title. These are the type of comments other teams will use to get fired up. I'm not sure if the Pistons can get anymore motivated by winning the title at home, but this will add fuel to their fire. The Lakers look out of gas and I'm scared they have already given up in this series. Even the players are divided on who should start the games. Fisher and Fox want to start because they've been here before and want one last shot together. This just shows they don't trust Payton's ability on the court (can't blame them), but still it's a blow to morale. The Lakers also have to be concerned with Shaq's energy in this game. He hasn't played well with only one day rest in between games. The Lakers have been resilient all season and a win would bring some life back into the team, but they haven't shown me they are capable of figuring out how to win. It's put up or shut up time for the Lakers.
This is not Kobe Bryant.. Something is wrong with him, and I bet you any money it's the court case. Kobe is just not Kobe this season. He really changed in my eyes.
I don't know if they "will win" but they better simply because there's no choice. To a Laker fan like me, it is always a blow of fresh air when the players do not lose hope when there seems to be none. Let's face it, they can come in Game 5 and try to match Detroit's intensity, prevent easy transitional fastbreaks, play better D and give the ball more to Shaq, purely play the original Laker brand basketball, and THEY WILL STILL LOSE to these hungry and dangerous Pistons IF they think they won't win. Kobe's prediction is a start now, it's not only a prediction it's a team belief that they can and will win. It's a must-have attitude, if the Lakers don't even have this darn basic instict, they might as well tell Gary Payton to empty his locker room right now. I think (which implies there's no guarantee in my statement) the Lakers will win Game 5 and at least force another game. I'd love to see the Lakers being in the position of underdogs now that Detroit has a 3-1 lead and the fact that the Pistons MUST close out the series and win a championship. I was very down after Game 4 yesterday, but you have no other way than try to search the positives and it's my belief the Lakers are looking at the positive sides too.
Wow, this is what the NBA should be all about. More trash talking. I don't know how anyone would regret what he said. Isn't it boring to just watch every typical game with no crap going on off-court? If the Lakers win game 5, Kobe should say the Lakers will win game 6 and 7, 'nuff said. He has the ego, icon and an elite game to say that. If other players said that awesome comment, I'd guarantee they would fail on court. This is what would make you get pumped up even more before the game, and it would make you more exciting and glued towards the NBA. SAY IT AGAIN!!!
as far as im concerned game 5 is the series. if the lakers win than theyre going to win 6 and 7 in LA having stolen momentum and homecourt advantage. if the lakers lose...well u know
I'm not sure why everyone (expecially the media) is making such a big deal out of statements like this. Kobe doesn't lack confidence and that is something admirable IMO .... (altho he's dillusional because it was over after game 3 IMO) The fact is that this is the mentality they need if they want ANY shot at all...even if it is in vein..
