<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe Bryant was suspended by the NBA for Tuesday night's Lakers game against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden for striking the Spurs' Manu Ginobili in the face on Sunday. Bryant hit Ginobili with 2.7 seconds remaining in the Lakers' eventual overtime loss to the Spurs. However, the Lakers guard was not ejected and finished with 31 points in the 96-94 loss. With Bryant suspended, the Lakers will open an eight-game road trip without their leading scorer. Bryant is averaging 28.4 points, 5.5 assists and 5.4 rebounds. </div> http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2748084 Wow, I haven't looked in detail at Kobes arm in the replay enough to determine if it was intentional or not, but it seems like BS as of now to me. From what I remember he was just looking to sell a foul and then went after the ball immediately after.

What the hell? I didn't watch the Spurs game, does anyone have a video of this? The New York natives, Lamar and Smush need to elevate their games tonight.
Damn, just saw this on ESPN. Anyway, IMO, the Lakers need to be able to function well without Kobe, especially against a team such as the Knicks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-a7TGrVIu3o Good old youtube. After watching this, I cannot believe Kobe is getting suspended 1 game for this. Looks like it was unintentional to me, and I read the officials didn't even whistle Kobe for a foul on the play. Also Pop and Gino both acknowledged it was an accident. If you watch the video, Gino actually hits Kobe across the face with his right hand aswell.
At first, the first time I watched it, I thought wow that was bs suspension. Now I'm not sure after watching it like 9 times. Kobe is in the air, then his right arm goes flying quite quick to Kobe's right, which isn't anything like a regular shooting motion. Maybe Kobe was trying to flail his arms to try to get a foul call, I don't know.

The NBA comes off as really sensitive.
Yeh I'm kind of unsure after watching it a few times like Omarion said. But I'm mostly annoyed because I was hoping to see Kobe play tonight! Well LAL will have to up there game if they want to get an easy win.

He actually hits Kobe in the face first, unintentionally, and then Kobe flails his arm out and catches Gino in the face. IMO it was unintentional and Kobe was trying to get a bail out call from the officials.

Ahhh this is pure BS. Stern is an idiot.

Bryant said he unintentionally elbowed Ginobili and felt "terrible" about the play. However, Bryant said he can't believe he was suspended. "I haven't seen a precedence for this. There's unintentional elbows that take place in a game all the time," Bryant told reporters at Madison Square Garden. Bryant hit Ginobili while trying to defend a shot with 2.7 seconds remaining. "I'm blown away by it. It makes no sense," Bryant said. Bryant's suspension also surprised Lakers coach Phil Jackson. "I have been a little disappointed with how Kobe has been treated as a premier player," Jackson said.</div> Kobe 'blown awa' by suspension Understatement of the year right there by PJax.
It was blatant and obvious. I pointed this out a couple times in the game thread in this forum, but both times my post was deleted for no reason. GJ moderators. Good call by Stu. <div class="quote_poster">shapecity Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Also Pop and Gino both acknowledged it was an accident. </div> Yes, I'm sure Pop can read Kobes mind. And if Kobe felt "terrible" about the play, he wouldn't have given Gino a quick glare, and just walked away........ While Manu is on the ground grabbing his face. Wow, Kobe sure knows how to express his emotions. And even if it WAS accidental, which it clearly wasn't, Kobe should get suspended for that ridiculous flop.

The swing was intentional, the hit on the head was not.

Fans pay top dollar whenever the Lakers come to town. There's a lot of Laker fans in New York, and the fans only get to see the Lakers one time all season. I'm sure a lot of people bought tickets in advance and looked forward to watching the best player in the game compete. All those people have been ripped off, because of a BS decision.

Not once did Kobe take his eye off the rim and measure Gino with his swing. Watch the video, and watch Gino's right hand, he actually catches Kobe in the face first.

And the way he did it was made to look as if it was on accident of course. If the refs would have known it was intentional, they would have disciplined him so. What's your point? And he didn't take his eyes off the rim? Lol.... most players don't when they are shooting. He knew there was a defender in his face. So he flailed his arms for no reason to try and draw the foul because he plays dirty like that, and in the process he hit Gino in the head. Whether or not he really just wanted to hit him in the head I can't say for sure, although he didn't seem to feel "terrible" about it. <div class="quote_poster">YourNewChef Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe's swing was a natural reaction, happens all the time.</div> Wow.

Hardly, watch the sequence again. Kobe pump fakes Bowen, and thinks he has a wide open look. Gino actually gets a block on the play because Kobe didn't realize he was still in the play. On the follow through, Gino hits Kobe in the face and then Kobe flails his arm and connects on Gino's face.
Is this the leagues idea of a bad joke? Whoever made that decision to suspend Kobe should be immediately fired, and chased after with hoes and pick axes. The entire league is really, really pissing me off.
