At the time of this post, he is at 59 points and counting. The Lakers are whooping the Mavs tonight, as Kobe has nearly as many points as the entire Mavs team. Talk about a performance. And the crazy thing, there's still an entire quarter left.
just hit a three and now at 62... in three quarters and has outscored the WHOLE DALLAS TEAM thru 3 quarters, 62-61.... amazing.
He has 62 at the end of the third. The Laker record is 71 by Elgin Baylor. Kobe is really solidifying his spot as the best two guard currently in the league. A lot of people have questioned if he is still the best, because of all the rising young stars such as Dwayne Wade. Kobe is really showing what he can do tonight.
Does anybody know if this game will ever be up for download? A friend of mine can't watch the game and he's going crazy right now...
Wow, I feel bad for who ever is covering him because Avery Johnson is yelling at whoever is on him, Avery Johnson breathes, sleeps, eats defense.
Finished with 62...What a performance...against an elite squad too...this Mavericks team always struggles defensively tho...I'm starting to think they need to start shipping some players like Nowitzki and Van Horn, players who just have no interest in defense... great night by kobe tho...
DAMN KOBE! that was sweet....from all I know the game was only played on FSN down here in southern california....at least that is what I watched it on....I wanted to see Kobe play the 4 quarter against the Mav secondary...just to see if he could break the 100 barrier...lol...in all seriousness if Phil did that that woulda been kind of mean if he did that....but damn I wanted that record broken..lol
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TwinTowers:</div><div class="quote_post">But he has no asissts the last time I checked. But ill give it to him he is having an amazing game.</div> Knew one of you guys were going to come out and say that. I was going to call a Heat fan being the first to point that out but then I figured if I did say that it would stop it from happening.. Almost any other time I would knock Kobe for not getting ANY assists but in a game where every time he touched the ball it was going in, I really couldn't care less. Kobe sat out after the 3rd when the team was up over 30 points, so that is all that matters. You wanna bring anything else to attention about the bad of his game tonight while you're at it? Because this thread was obviously created for Laker fans to celebrate this win and performance by Kobe.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TwinTowers:</div><div class="quote_post">But he has no asissts the last time I checked. But ill give it to him he is having an amazing game.</div> lol hater
30 points in one qtr.....shot the ball insanely well.....jesus..... This is the perfect night for a Laker fan: They dominate one of the elite teams in the League to rebound from a fluke loss (to the rockets) and Kobe scores the ball like only hall of famers can.
One more thing- anyone else notice how both Kobe's career high in pts (His previous was 56) he did n only 3 qtrs? Just thought that was funny
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TwinTowers:</div><div class="quote_post">But he has no asissts the last time I checked. But ill give it to him he is having an amazing game.</div> Yeah I was thinking about that cuz I didn't see him pass haha. And did he get a dunk because by the time I saw the game he was 7 of 8. Amazing game by Kobe. And I was almost as amazed just looking at how long DJ Mbenga arms were haha.
Wow, if the game was actually close and he got to play more, he could've gotten close to 80 points. You know Avery was choking someone, but Dallas tried a lot of things against him in the 3rd, double, triple teams, to no avail.
That was one of the best displays of simply taking over a game I've ever seen. The next leading scorer on the Lakers was Odom with 6. And it wasn't even like Kobe was on fire: he was just money with whatever he did.
Man, they realy should have let him score some more in the 4th, but I guess Phil wanted to play the bench guys when they had such a big advantage, which is understandable. I certainly hope this game will be available for download, I've already sent out a few message for it to be ripped. EDIT: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Kobe Bryant always has wanted to be mentioned with the all-time greats. His performance against the Dallas Mavericks certainly was the stuff of legend. Bryant scored a phenomenal 62 points - the most in the NBA in 11 years - to propel the Los Angeles Lakers to a 112-90 rout of the Mavericks. The 27-year-old Bryant became just the 19th player in league history to reach the 60-point plateau and the first since Philadelphia's Allen Iverson against Orlando on February 12 of last season. His explosion was the most points by any player since San Antonio's David Robinson scored 71 points in pursuit of a scoring title in the 1993-94 season finale at the Los Angeles Clippers. After scoring 43 points in Los Angeles' 109-106 triumph December 12 at Dallas, Bryant picked up right where he left off with 32 points in the first half before a historic 30-point third quarter. In the fourth-highest scoring quarter in league history, Bryant made 7-of-13 shots and 14-of-16 free throws as he thoroughly frustrated the Mavericks, who began arguing with officials and taking hard fouls. He finished with a flourish, drilling a 3-pointer with 4.4 seconds left to open a 95-61 lead. Just as in his previous career high of 56 vs. Memphis on January 14, 2002, Bryant did not play the fourth quarter. The superstar guard connected on 18-of-31 shots, including 4-of-10 from the arc, and 22-of-25 free throws. He had no assists, but by the second quarter, no one in the Staples Center wanted him to pass. Through three quarters, the shellshocked Mavericks made 22-of-65 shots, including 0-of-10 3-pointers, and 17-of-24 free throws. The outburst pushed Bryant's scoring average from 31.3 points to 32.5, still second in the league behind Iverson. Dallas never led as it saw a three-game winning streak halted. The frustration began early in the third quarter when All-Star Dirk Nowitzki was hit in the face by Bryant's flailing arm. When the foul was called on Nowitzki, he received a technical foul for throwing his mouthpiece. Less than three minutes later, Josh Howard was called for a flagrant foul after clotheslining a driving Bryant. Mavericks coach Avery Johnson was called for his second technical foul of the quarter and was ejected with 7:46 left. Everything fell apart for Dallas thereafter. </div> Recap Box score
