http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-lakers-kobe21-2009jan21,0,3788403.story You can cut off his hand and he'll still play. What a beast. But I don't get it though, dislocated right finger? How's that going to effect his game? At least it's not as bad as his pinky...
He said it was the worse pain he's ever been through. He also said his shot would struggle until he adjusted it and got used to playing with the pain. I figure he'll look to shoot less and create even more than he has been until he feels comfortable with it. I think we'll see his minutes reduced, too. I actually wouldn't be surprised if he sat out tomorrow night. We don't exactly need him against the Clippers.
Kobe adjusted to his torn up pinkie pretty well, so I imagine he'll adjust to having a dislocated finger too.
I don't think a dislocated finger is that serious, just painful. At least he didn't tear anything (like his pinky). He'll be fine. Hopefully he can finish off the season without injuring all 10 of his fingers though.
Well I heard it is just like jamming your finger really badly. I've had that before; it got swollen and I couldn't move it as well for a few days. Then I just had to deal with some pain.
Was it a lingering injury, or one that gets better with rest? If it's the latter than I'd rather Kobe just sit out a couple of games, we'll hold the fort without him. But knowing Kobe that's impossible.
It got much better after about 3-5 days. But I wasn't playing NBA basketball, though I don't have access to Kobe's level of medical treatment either. There are a couple of variables I can't account for, but I am quite sure it is swollen and very painful in certain moments. Kobe did come back very quickly from the pinkie though, he was off for 1-2 games then didn't miss a beat. He deals with this stuff well, I am just worried about the accumulation of injuries. My ring finger turned a dark-purple, sort of black. It looked dead, then recovered completely.
My sentiments exactly. Clips are missing Camby and Davis. I think the rest of our lineup should be fine. I mean start him if you want, but once we get a lead, he should sit, and if we hold on, then don't bring him in lol
I have played basketball with a dislocated finger and it IS really painful. But I also played with a broken wrist once and that was MUCH MORE painful. People feel pain in different ways, I don't see myself like some kind of beast, warrior, or incredibly tough player, it's just something I could carry on althought after the game the doctor simply could not believe I played basketball with my wrist like that and said it was not a bright idea for my part 'cause I could have gotten some permanent problems on my movements.
Yeah, I know what you mean. It'll hurt, but its mind over matter plus the adrenaline factor. ALthough when you see the ladies, you tell them you played through that shit and that you made the game winner, yup....
