Ok im here just to point out that Kobe lately has been struggling from the freethrow line. Now i just wanted to say that i tjink it might be related to his Field goal percentage. And just wanted to ask, that could it be possible that because of al lthe weight lifting and training he has done over the summer that hes going to have to adjust the strength he throws the ball with? I dont know just wanted to say that i believe that his freethrow percentage might have something to do with his field goal percentage. And i would like for him to start practice shooting again. Ditch the weights start shooting. What do you guys think?
i dont think its his muscle training thats affecting his shots. its fatigue due to long minutes of all out playing.
I agree with that also Yanix. I also think that due to the amount of shots he forces up while being the main focus of defenses. When he gets to the line at times his arms as two weak from all the shots he has taken which is fatigue and that affects his free throw shooting. Not only that, but a lot of times playing out west he has to take a lot of jump shots which tire out his legs when he can not bend his legs enough during a free throw it will not go in. I think what Kobe needs is either less minutes or better clock management by rudy T in terms on knowing when to call timeouts to give Kobe rests so he can recoporate from the long minutes he has played. I think unless the Lakers can trade for a second option to take away attention from othe rteams defenses from Kobe or Lamar Odom steps up thats how they got to handle the situation. Allen Iversons field goal percentage over the last few years has been low basically due to the same reason I mean he shot 46 % at one point for a whole seaosn earlier in his career when he ahd help, and the defenses paid less attention to him.
He was practicing his shooting before the Christmas game. The good thing about Kobe is that he'll fix any problems with his game. He knows its kinda off and he'll work his butt off. Can't say that about another SOMEONE Watch the baiting - Ice
^ Ok there smart boy. You just got beat by Shaq's Miami, do you guys ever let go of comments about Shaq?? Wether you like it or not, Shaq will go down in history as a higher ranked player than Kobe. Stop talking about Shaq like an ex-girlfriend and worry about your Los Angelos Kobes.
i don't see how he can go from making toss-up-wild three's while guarded by two people, to missing free throws..
Let's try and keep Shaq out of this topic...and stick with Kobe's free throw shooting, please. That goes for everyone.
I don't mind about Kobe's freethrow woes, he can always perfect that at the gym alone. He's a career 80 something percent shooter from the stripe, correct? If I'm wrong on that, somebody please correct me. Basically, with all the shot attempts Kobe is shooting from the line, it means he's the only one playing aggressive style basketball, and is willing to sacrifice anything to earn his points.
Probably just had one bad game that made it go down a lot, he's back up to 80.1% from hitting a lot on Christmas, coaches always tell you to practice your free throws when your tired, so most pro players can hit them well all game.
IMO free throws are lot more mental than physical, so he just needs to relax, and do what he always does without thinking about it.
I think the weights are affecting his shot, and hopefully he'll adjust soon. However, I don't think it's affecting his freethrows. As the poster above me said, it's probably a mental thing. He was shooting about 88% for the first two weeks, and after that Chicago game where he shot horrendously from the stripe, his shooting hasn't been a good. He shot well from the line against the heat, and a few more games like that should get him back in the right state of mind IMO ... no worries
