I love it and hate it at the same time. I love the fact that the Blazer brass is calling out Crapzano for making shit up to keep himself relevant. I hate it because Crapzano probably enjoys being called out because it draws more attention to his pathetic columns and radio show.

I love that they are calling him out. I hate that they are stupid enough to keep Roy to spite Canzano

Maybe they're not. It wouldn't be the first time that NBA management has put out "disinformation" to suit their own purposes.

I do. I think this management team makes decisions based on emotions and not data. Oden over Durant was based on emotions because so many people wanted Oden (Including me) The team has since came out and said they knew he had medical issues. (which none of us knew the severity of) Well why the fuck would you draft him if there was a 1A guy right next to him that was in peak health? They re-signed Brandon knowing about his knees because he is the face of the franchise. They re-signed Miles )bidding against themselves) because Paul Allen thought he was neat.

Im really not sure why everyone thinks we HAVE to dump BRoy right now. Whats wrong with waiting a year if it only costs us some of PA's money. If he is willing to spend it then so am I.

I read this initially as "Kobe goes after Canzano." Was like, holy shit. WTF did JC get into now?

Because keeping him doesn't only cost us PA's money. It also costs us team development time, some of our MLE, and potentially trade flexibility.

Agree, but as e_blazer said in the other thread, keeping him on the roster if he cant be effective every night only clogs up the SG/SF rotation and keeps guys like Matthews and Batum from developing.

It would be tough to find two people whose opinions matter less to me than Bert Kolde and John Canzano.

To put it differently from Platypus, it costs us the following:

    1) luxury tax money (I know, just another SPAM function, but there's more)
    2) the ability to sign a better FA (due to being having the "mini-MLE", vs. the "full MLE.") Here's the biggest issue, imo. We have glaring needs in the frontcourt (right now, our C's are Camby, Oden, and Chris Johnson. You can add LMA, but then our PFs are Babbitt and ???). If you just want to sign a Pendergraph or something, then there's no problem. Maybe Joel would sign the mini MLE. But if you're trying to get guys like Hayes or Landry, the difference between mini- and full MLE is a big discriminator. And enough teams will have the full MLE that you won't be the only show in town to get paid (like with Andre in the "Year of Hedo")
    3) crowded backcourt--assuming that Felton/Matthews/Walllace are our starting 1/2/3, you now have to find minutes for Batum and Roy to play the extended minutes they deserve/feel they need. If you're starting Roy, then ditto, but with Wes and Batum now.
    4) Zero chance of gametime integration or development from Williams or Smith or Diebler. I know that this is secondary (that's why it's #4), but I don't think it's irrelevant, given that Roy's knee issues have NO upside (as far as all the docs have said) and there's at least a 0.1% chance that one of those guys becomes a contributor.

I'd believe Kolde's opinion over Quick. Kolde at least has PA's ear. :)

We don't. If we wait a year maybe it potentially saves PA money and we would be in better position to sign Joel Freedland. Just playing devil's advocate to those who say the opposite.

I am not certain which strategy is best, but I think there is an argument for both. Will signing a Carl Landry help or hurt our chances next year with Freedland. Or do we even care because he is a Euro and all Euro's are risky? But what we do now will effect next year. And those who are concerned with developing our team also needs to consider how Freedland fits in with that development. Because he is better than any draft pick we will get.

I think not using the full MLE this year helps us next year. I could be wrong because I don't even know what the Cap is. Those who are Cap experts let me know.

If we let Oden walk to keep Roy Its gonna be hard to be as die hard a blazer fan as I have been. I would be really really disappointed.

I still believe that we are not worthy of the greatness that is Canzano and that he should leave us and become the GM of the Lakers.

    And you know this how?

I and others have already argued that cutting Roy now is likely not the smart move for the Blazers.

Thus, your (and Nik's) contention that cutting Roy now is the one and only true and right and perfect move:

    IS ENTIRELY FUCKING DEBATABLE.

So, you can't then presume that moves by the Blazers that don't follow YOUR plan are insane or emotion driven or whatever.
