<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">KYLE KORVER has packed on 15 pounds of muscle since last season ended. He'd like to think he has added just as much to his game.

Entering his third season with the 76ers, Korver has already established some gaudy credentials: He set the team record for most three-point field goals, with 226 last season; he became the first Sixer to lead the NBA in made three-pointers; and he put together three streaks of 20-plus games in which he knocked down at least one triple.

But there's more to the game than treys, even if it is his signature skill. He knows it, and coach Maurice Cheeks knows it. He is the team's best shooter, but that's not enough for either of them.

It's OK for Korver to get some of his points two at a time rather than three, Cheeks says. He doesn't have to automatically step behind the arc. He can put the ball on the floor and go to the basket. He can curl off a screen. He can make himself available for open midrange opportunities.

Players clearly should focus on what they do best, the coach suggests, but not at the expense of everything else.

"You can always revert back to what you do best," Cheeks says. "[But] you can always incorporate other things into your game. It's not a crime to work on other things and try and get better. At certain times, when you need a basket, whatever you do best is what you do."

"We all know Kyle can shoot the ball," Cheeks said during a break in the training-camp regimen in Durham, N.C. "I want to see Kyle put the ball on the floor a little bit more. He's a 90 percent foul shooter; I want to see him get to the rim a little bit more, put the pressure on the defense as opposed to standing out there relying on shooting as he can.

"When the defense is running out to him, he doesn't always have to wind it up and shoot it. He can catch it, put it on the floor, create for himself, create for someone else. Guys are going to run up on him, be on him closely. The more he can put it on the floor, they have to figure something out, whether to guard him up close."</div>

it's good to see korver is trying to improve to be a good all around player instead of just a three point threat. we already saw last year that he improved tremendously on defense. this year im expecting a lot out of him, and hopefully he will come to a point where people will start seeing him as a starter rather than being in a sixth man role.
