Kreider underwent surgery on his hand today. Out indefinitely. No timeframe announced for his return but my guess is he's done for the year. That's a tough one. Wanted to see what he would do in the playoffs.
Glen Sather made the call to pull Kreider from the lineup when it was revealed that Kreider could do long-term damage to his hand if the injury wasn’t fixed quickly. (NY Post) With that said we'll see how it plays out. Maybe if the Rangers make it to the 2nd round he can return. That would be about 5 weeks from surgery. Truth be told outside of Boston the East is wide open...it really is. We can beat anyone in the East (outside of Boston which I won't say we can't beat, but we would be a big underdog) and we can lose to anyone in the East, Kreider or no Kreider. I know it is more than stats, but he was playing around 12 mpg, and had 7 points (4 goals) in his last 21 games. So no excuses...let the chips fall where they may.
Agree with you Chuck. He'll be missed but should be able to be compensated for. A chance for Miller to step up. I'd be surprised at 5 weeks. Suffered many breaks myself. Hairline cracks are usually 3 weeks min. Surgery, meaning a displacement or at least a screw, usually min of 6 weeks. If a hard cast immobilizes the wrist, he'll have no strength at all and it will be longer. Lets hope it was just a screw they inserted with a soft cast or wrap, and maybe 5-6 weeks.
came out of nowhere on radio today, caught by surprised! maybe he willl be back sooner then we anticipate, the kid is tough!
shut him down for the year. No need to risk coming back too early and then hurting it again then his offseason training gets screwed over.
