Didn't the Mavs played a lot better when KVH went down? It was game 3 against the Rockets I believe. I think his soft play on defense is contagious.
I think the Mavs improved their play in game 2, and it was mere coincidence that they won in game 3 when Van Horn went down. The Mavs won game 3 because they built upon the things that made game 2 close, and continued to improve their play with each game to the point where they would blow the Rockets out in game 7. I agree that Van Horn is not a stellar defender, but I was surprised at his willingness to mix it up on the boards. I don't believe he is a detriment to the team, and if he comes back into this series, he will only add rather than detract from the Mavs chances to win it. If anything, he will provide some minutes so that Dirk can rest.
