OK, I guess the argument is that Clippers have nothing to trade. But is that true? They have George and Leonard. Maybe mostly due to injuries but it has just not worked out with these two. I think they are at the point that they may think a really good point guard is more important than two really good small forwards. Possible options: 1. Trade directly with Clippers. We always said we wanted to change out one of our short no defense guards for a SF. We were talking about Simons of course, but what about Lillard. I have got the impression that Blazers may be tired of tanking and want to at least get back into the playoffs. With George or Leonard, if they stayed healthy, we could probably do that. Leonard has been the healthier, averaging about 56 games over last 4 seasons; George about 45, but i would feel safer with George, would worry about Leonard's motivation if sent here. 2. Send Leonard or George to a third team. OKC and New York would be reluctant to trade for Lillard because they both have really good ball dominant guards already but they might be happy to have a Leonard or George. OKC would certainly have good assets to send to us. 3. Some kind of three or four way where Lillard goes to Philly, Harden to Clippers and somehow both those teams find some draft picks to send to Portland. I guess my point is that there are things out there (don't forget Toronto) that could be done and hopefully some teams will get creative.
I dont think Leonard or George have much trade value. They are good when they play, but that is really limited...
Seems to have motivated Leonard to play for a small market and won them a championship. I would even give up a irst with Dame.
Portland needs to focus on improving the Blazers, not helping the Clippers cut luxury taxes because Ballmer spends too much for his playoff team. Don't answer the phone if LAC calls.
They are ranked 10th in the league but only since the championship...before that they were considered a small market team. Now they are top third in lthe league
Toronto vs. Blazers in the Moda Center last year looked like a Raptors playoff home game. Those Vancouver Raptors fans straight mobbed into Portland. Oh, and the Raptors beat the crap out of Portland thanks in part to the Canadian fueled energy on Portland's court.
I don't think we NBA fans understand the power of hockey, soccer and baseball over hoops in Canada. Vancouver sure failed to draw a crowd for the Grizzlies.
Those dummies on the Grizzlies drafted Antonio Daniels over Tracy McGrady. Then Mike Bibby over Vince Carter. No wonder Toronto made it through the expansion years with flying colors, despite having Barney the Dinosaur as their logo.
I think Toronto is a great city as far as cities go. Players seem to like playing in Toronto these days...Drake sure helped that franchise
