Behind 23 points and 14 rebounds from powerhouse center Shaquille O'neal, the Lakers used a 50-37 second half to overcome the again slumping Sonics, 97-86. Seattle took an eight point lead after the first period, but were subsequently outscored in the remaining three quarters as the Lakers got all but eight of their points from their starters, led by Kobe Bryant's 25. For the Sonics, Ray Allen continued his good form against Bryant with 30 points and seven assists. Rashard Lewis had 25, while Brent Barry added a double double with 10 points and 11 dimes. reggie Evans had seven offsenvie boards on his way to a season high 14 overall. Vitaly Potapenko added 12 and seven. The Lakers took this one on the strength of their shooting, connecting on an amazing 56% of their shots from the field, in comparison to Seattle's 44. While rebounding, assist and turnover numbers were about even, the Lakers were able to take the win just through their blistering shooting. Box Score courtesy of NBA.com. Next Game: vs Hornets, Sunday
The Sonics played well, not much else you can do against the Lakers except try your best (as loserish as that sounds). That twisting Kobe dunk was sick. Our two big name guys lived up to expectations tonight and thats always a plus. Not much more I can say except nice try and hope for better luck in the lottery.
