I think the Lakers should be able to win 72 games with 4 future hall of famers...come on now, Jordan did it with Pippen...and he didnt have THAT MANY good players around him...with SHAQ, MALONE, KOBE, and PAYTON, oh man if they dont win at least 65 games that would be a shame but then again...I dont think Kobe is 100% yet so...lets see how many games the Lakers can win this year.
It's going to be very hard for the Lakers to win 72+, it was Always going to be, and still is. When you add two new starters, chemistry plays a big role, and so far they've adjusted well but are 9-3. To get 72, LA are going to have to go 63-7, which is one huge task that even the Lakers couldn't do. Obviously to get 72 wins, your going to have the have the highest winning %( 2 teams with 72+ will not happen) and right now LA dont have that.
Lakers have no bench and two guys on the wrong side of 35. They'll be a title threat sure, but to have the focus, injury luck and endurance to win 72 games with their team - very doubtful.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sir Desmond:</div><div class="quote_post">Lakers have no bench .</div> that's a very good point people seem to ignore ! I don't think they'll get to 72 ... 60 will be reasonable
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sir Desmond:</div><div class="quote_post">Lakers have no bench and two guys on the wrong side of 35.</div> BINGO That says it all right there..Their bench is so weak that they are no means a lock to win it.Payton and Malone could easily burn out in the playoffs....they are not young anymore...I havn't been to impressed by GP so far this year I'm sick of these kind of topics...Please take a look at the other top teams in the west..It's not possible for the Lakers to get close to 70 wins....So stop thinking about it.
The Lakers will not win 72 this year. That's pretty much a given with the 3 early season losses. But, 65, I think, is very possible. That would mean going 56-14, which, I think is very possible. We'll see though. I do agree, the bench does need to get a little better. But, they're distributing the ball well, so, I think that helps extremely. But, once Fox gets back, I think the team will be a little better cause they'll have another good bench player. Aside from Fisher and Russell, that is a very young bench. But, only time will tell how this team will do.
i already posted an article breaking down why the Lakers won't beat the 72 win record by the Bulls... http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8218
