The Los Angeles Lakers have emerged as one of the most determined trade suitors for Sacramento Kings All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN that the Lakers have been actively pursuing trade scenarios in recent weeks in attempt to construct a deal that would convince the Kings to part with Cousins.

The Kings, though, continue to insist that Cousins is not available. The team's new lead decision maker,Vlade Divac, told the Sacramento Bee in Sunday's editions that dealing away his best player "is not happening."

Sources say that the Lakers, Kings and Orlando Magic have had exploratory dialogue on a three-way Cousins trade that would land the 24-year-old in Los Angeles. All three teams hold top-six picks in Thursday's NBA draft, and Orlando has a young top-flight center of its own in Nikola Vucevic, who could theoretically fill the Cousins void.

Report: Lakers willing to include Julius Randle in DeMarcus Cousins trade

The Los Angeles Lakers will need to put together a considerable package if they want to pry DeMarcus Cousins away from the Kings. Would Julius Randle and then some be enough to convince Sacramento’s brass?

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated reports that the Lakers are willing to give up Randle, the No. 7 overall pick in last year’s draft, in a potential trade for Cousins. It’s unclear if Randle has been discussed as part of the three-team deal that has supposedly been floated between the Lakers, Kings and Orlando Magic.

Randle suffered a broken leg in his first career NBA game last year, which contributed to the Lakers having a horrendous season. The former Kentucky star is only 20 and has plenty of potential, but perhaps the Lakers would prefer to have a more proven big man like Cousins for what could be Kobe Bryant’s final NBA season.

Kings, Lakers intensify Cousins trade talks, per sources

The Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings exchanged possible frameworks of a trade centered on All-Star DeMarcus Cousins on Wednesday and discussions could intensify on Thursday, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Kings started to engage with teams and explore possible trade scenarios beyond the Lakers on Wednesday, league sources said. Sacramento management has publicly said it won't trade Cousins, but that stance has increasingly softened and the franchise is proceeding further on moving him, league sources said.

After Sacramento Kings coach George Karl pushed for Kings management to trade Cousins this spring, Cousins is unenthusiastic about returning to play for Karl and would be eager for a deal to the Lakers, league sources said.

Opposing teams are trying to deciper whether the Kings are making a sincere effort to accomodate Cousins with a trade – or simply trying to placate him that they tried and were unable to find a suitable deal
