<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Well, things were kind of dull around here since the end of the Michael Jackson trial. Michael Jackson freed one day, Phil Jackson recaptured the next. Does Southern California know how to make headlines or what? Tuesday afternoon, the Lakers made it official at a Staples Center news conference, announcing that Phil Jackson is coming back to lead the team he guided to three NBA championships with the superstar he wrote was uncoachable. Congratulations, Los Angeles, we're back at the center of the sports universe. Where else can you squeeze a hippy coach, a boss'-daughter girlfriend and the one-time rape-trial defendant into one sentence and relegate basketball to parentheses? Tune in and see if Phil can find happiness with Jeanie Buss and Kobe Bryant. (Oh, and if the Lakers can win a few more games than they did last season.) "Buzz and public relations, in a positive sense, is never a bad thing," Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said. "But the bottom line here is it's about winning games. If Phil is the coach next April and we're not in contention for the playoffs, this won't mean a thing." Oh yeah? There are other bottom lines Lakers owner Jerry Buss may have considered as he signed Jackson to a three-year contract.</div> Source
Thats funny,I never knew it was gone .When a team goes to the lottery youd think people would be able to stop talking about them. But no,the media insists that EVERYONE is interested in what the Lakers are doing. Its pretty annoying.
Jackson and i mean Phil is going to be the center of attention in LA. He is very an awesome coach. I think the Lakers are fortunate to have him back. The Lakers have great potential. They have Kobe, Odom, and a rising star Butler. I can't wait to see the outcome.
