Now that Amare has to get more surgery and is OFFICIALLY out for the year, do you think the Lakers chances of succeeding in the playoffs are better or no different?

Phoenix is still going to take the series. Kobe will make the series interesting though. 1 game at least, 2 at the most.

Amare has only played what 3 games all season? The Sun's have obviously played extemely well without him in the lineup. The Laker's have to find someway to disrupt Nash (like the Nets did) and utilize their big men (Kwame, maybe Mihm?) to score points on the inside. The Sun's sometimes too tend to play close to their competitors level like letting the Raptors score over 100+ points on them. So if the Lakers can step it up on the defensive end and let Kobe go wild on the offense for the Guards, I think we stand a damn good chance of winning the series.

The Suns would run the Lakers out of the building. I hope i'm wrong.

The two games we played them, I think it was a back-to-back and guess what? our third game against them is also back to back, weird! We are an improve Lakers team now, so I don't think we'll have a problem playing against them, considering Amare isn't there. They're a high scoring team but they don't play defense like the Spurs to stop us. As well as Lamar playing well, Kwame doing what he does, we can beat them 4-2. I rather play the Suns than playing the Mav, Spurs, Nuggets. Bring them on!

The Suns have a clear advantage over the Lakers, but who knows...I have a feeling Kobe is going to do something classic. Kobe is back in the playoffs, and this time its basiclly on his own so something special from him is bound to happen.

I'm going to reserve comment for this after I see what the Lakers do against them in the final two meetings. Amare being out really helps the cause though, especially in the post season.

I think the key right now is finding someone to keep Marion off the glass and make sure he's accounted for everytime the Suns shoot the basketball.

dont look now, but the kings are beating the spurs by 19 in the fourth. if they win, they will only be one game behind us for the 7th seed. we have a tough stretch of games coming up with denver and SA back to back

Let's just hope that the Lakers stop their string of good games, fall back down to 8th, and face the Mavs in the 1st round. We should be able to beat the Mavs.

The only way that we can beat the Suns will be if Nash gets injured. With Smush's poor defense against point guards with quick first step, Smush will like get us killed by Nash.

Funny thing is that has crossed my mind many times. I wouldn't be mad if we dropped down to the 8th seed if Dallas was there, but it appears as though the Spurs will lock up that 1st seen... in which case, it's pick your posion with the Spurs and Suns, but I'd rather play the Suns ...

It will be a massively successful season if we can somehow someway by some means make it out of the 1st round...

I'm actually looking beyond the first round. Entering the playoffs, we will be the underdogs and will probably be taken lighter. If we actually beat one of the giants(Dallas or Phoneix) the next team we play will be well aware of us. We need to play a lower status team like Denver in order for us to reach deep into the playoffs.

I believe its going to be the best series in the first round, and Kobe will do everything possible to beat the Suns.

again, we arent locked for the suns. the kings only need one more win to catch us in the wins column. we have to play denver and phoenix back to back. i say theres a good chance we may drop to the 8th seed in the west.

Spurs really only have one more dreaded back to back, good thing playoffs arent back to back, but i think spurs will get the top seed unless they play like they did against the kings. If lakers did get dallas i would go for lakers even though i hate them lol.

Anyone catch the Clippers v. Suns last night? Something I noticed again was a taller defender really disrupting Nash. Last night Dunleavy put Livingston on Nash, and his length bothered Nash and led to a few turnovers.

The Cavs also had success putting Varejao on Nash earlier in the year. Having a tall guy with long arms makes it difficult for Nash to dribble around, and the long reach makes it harder for Nash to survey the court and find his open teammates.

Don't be surprised to see Odom on Nash in late game situations in the post season. I doubt we'll see PJax tip his hand in the last two games, because he doesn't want Phoenix to make adjustments, but I'd bet Odom is on Nash A LOT in the playoffs.

It's going to be similar to when PJax used Pippen to guard Mark Jackson when the Bulls faced the Pacers in the playoffs.

Great point! Nash did struggle against long, tall player, but that long, tall player need to be good at the offensive end to slow down Nash. We all know Nash is not good defensive player, and having a guy like Odom guarding him can slow him down for sure. But don't you think Odom is a bit slow to guard Nash?

he's WAY too slow. by the time he came out to Nash, he would have already passed to an open man. the guy to put on Nash is Kobe.

I don't expect him to guard Nash the entire game, but when the game is close in the 4th, and the Lakers need a defensive stop. Watch for this adjustment by PJax with Odom sliding over and guarding Nash.
