Numbers Don't Tell Story On Brown
Kwame Brown doesn't have the tenacity and reaction skills of Detroit center Ben Wallace. Nor does he have the speed/strength combination of Phoenix forward Shawn Marion. But he does muscle players out of the post, a sumo wrestler more than a leaper and blocker. ... "I don't think people appreciate the defense he gives us," Phil Jackson said. "We certainly understand that he makes it difficult for people on the block." -- Los Angeles Times

    Momentum Hard To Find
It has been a long and elusive search for momentum, one that will continue for the Lakers as they open a three-game road trip tonight against New Jersey. "The real difficulty," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said, "is when teams get weighed down with the losing, the winning, the losing, the winning, this roller-coaster disappointment that comes along without ever getting a winning streak of five or six games. -- Los Angeles Daily News
