The L.A. Times reported a couple of weeks ago that the lakers might waive Bryon Russell also. They had 4 guys with un-guarenteed contracts and they were looking to release two of them. It was between Pargo, Grant, Sampson, and Russell. They apparently feel they need Grant and they love Sampson's potiential. That would leave only Russell now, and that would be a damn shame because he's been bringing good minutes off the bench so far this year. Hopefully, Mr. Jerry Buss will change his mind and just pay for the extra player...
Excellent move that Pargo is gone. Just didn't fit into the Laker system. I hope he can find a new home someplace else. And why didn't Horace Grant go with him too? I'm tired of watching this man drag himself up and down the court. It's time for our young talents like Luke Walton and Brian Cook to get some playing time.
Not a big surprise, but maybe we should have kept him because Payton and Fish are playing like bleep. Good luck in the real world to Mr. Pargo!
I don't like the move, but I would rather see Pargo go than B-Russell. We need his experience and scoring ability off the bench. He's no Brian Shaw in clutch time, but he's a pretty comparable replacement. Sampson was retained due to Shaq and Karl's injuries, that's also why Horace isn't going anywhere. (though I doubt he would be cut) Jamal is also a 7-footer with some actual skill, he might develop into a decent, much-needed back up for Shaquille. Speaking of which, I'm very surprised that Stanley Roberts hasn't been brought in for a look, he and Shaq were said to be fairly tolerant of each-other at LSU. Have any of you heard anything more about him since his tryout with Toronto failed? I'd like to see Stanley get another chance, he's a very talented basketball player...just likes to eat too much.
Good move, there's a lot more people on that bench that deserve some playing time, not like he was playing anyway though.
The only problem I have with this is that Jennaro was their best shooter. He could have been valuable in certain spots come playoff time.
