<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Still at a stage in its infancy in which management can make such goodwill gestures without affecting the future, Charlotte has publicly promised point guard Brevin Knight that it won't trade him somewhere without Knight's consent, like the Bobcats did last season with Steve Smith before sending Smith to Miami. However ... With rookie Raymond Felton looking increasingly competent playing next to Knight, Charlotte might be unable to resist parting with the veteran before the Feb. 23 trading deadline, lest anything happens to start decreasing Knight's value after a solid season and a half with the expansionists. At a salary of less than $4-plus million this season and the next two seasons, Knight holds appeal to teams looking for reasonably priced know-how at the point. With Charlotte's season in ruins anyway -- with Emeka Okafor expected to miss another five to seven weeks and the Bobcats carrying an injured list as long as anyone's -- dealing Knight during the next three weeks makes more sense as Felton progresses</div> I was hoping they'd sign him last summer when he was an FA, but as usual Mitch missed that opportunity, but this is a good chance to get a quality point gaurd that is quitely consistent. He was second in the League and assists last year with something like 9 per game after Steve Nash. He's also a pretty potent scorer when given the nod. Unfortunately I haven't heard much about his defensive capabilities, and I know he isn't as tall as Jackson usually likes point gaurds to be. I'm also not sure who we could trade for this guy since Charlotte isn't exactly in great need of cap space since they are a young team full of players on their rookie contracts.
I think the first order of business is to get Mitch out of there. he can't do anything like what Jerry West was able to do. He is passing up these deals and just sitting back like a goofball. Don't expect to get a good deal with Mitch in the drivers seat.
We need a Joe Dumars type of GM. Someone who actually knows how to make a team better. Brevin Knight would be monumental for this team. He could hit passes that Smush could never dream about. It would also give Odom the opportunity to play forward, not point-forward.
i agree... even though phil does not like small PG's the lakers should try and get him... they would increase they're offense big time because odom could play forward more and mihm, kwame, odom and even kobe could get alley-oops from knight! )
The problem is who can the Lakers offer at this point? The Bobcats saw first hand how pathetic our scrubs are.

I know they aren't exactly strapped for cash right now but they will need the space if they hope to resign all those soon-to-be stars they have.

He's been 0-2 with his latest "big name" deals and 0-1 with minor trades. Butler & Atkins for Kwame & Profit - Edge Wizards 1st Rnd Pick, Odom, Butler & Grant for Shaq - Edge Heat 2nd Rnd Pick for Jumaine Jones - Egde Bobcats I don't trust him with the MLE either. Last year we paid Divac to watch from the sidelines, this year we are paying McKie. You can never predict injuries, but these two haven't been the definition of healthy. He couldn't even give away Vlade this summer, even though the team who traded for him would have automatically saved $5Million in cap space at the cost of only a $2.5Million buyout. If you can't GIVE AWAY $2.5Million you have some serious problems as GM in the NBA. The only thing we know is Mitch's hands must smell like ass, because all he's doing is sitting on them.
