<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">And, if all goes according to plan, as early as next week the Los Angeles Lakers will introduce Rudy Tomjanovich as their next coach and the conductor of the NBA's most complicated symphony.

Anyone in Houston who admired Rudy T can only be happy for him. That is, if you think coaching the Lakers is a good thing to have happen.

For the moment, we can only speculate the Lakers are smart enough to snap up a fellow with a history of winning. Of even more significance, he did so while earning the respect and devotion of his players.

The irony and timing of this matchmaking won't be lost on even the casual fan.</div>

Now I regret doubting the Lakers winning a championship in atleast the next 3 years. Kobe is about to enter his prime at almost 26, which is roughly the same age Jordan entered his. Rudy Tomjanovich replaces Phil Jackson, as Phil Jackson replaced Doug Collins for the Bulls. Kareem Rush may literally be the second fiddle to Kobe, like Pippen was. All these coincidences and I think they will win a championship in a few years, not next year though.

Wait, Rudy Tomjanovich replaces Phil Jackson, as Phil Jackson replaced Doug Collins for the Bulls? You really think Rudy T is as good? Personally i wouldnt like him but he would be good for the team.

I'm optimistic about the Lakers too...but I wouldn't go as far as calling Kareem the next vintage Scottie Pippen. Kareem's defense and ballhandling has improved...but he's not that good. He's much more of a Steve Kerr type than anything else.

Yeah Kareem is a more athletic Steve Kerr. It would be great if he could hit at that kinda rate and just by some miracle he plays great D.

Yea, I won't go as far to call Rush almost Scottie Pippen-esque this early in his career. He has the shooting touch, more-so than Pippen had I think, but, he's not even half the defender Pippen was. So, to call him the next Pippen, no way, can't happen.
