<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">SAN DIEGO -- First impression from Lakers training camp: It's going to be a long two or three seasons for Kobe Bryant, waiting for his team to have the salary-cap room to get Bryant and Lamar Odom the help they clearly need to haul the Kobes back up into the league's elite. Fair? OK, maybe not. Bryant's Lakers probably deserve more than one practice under Rudy Tomjanovich before we start making firm judgments about what they can do in Year 1 of the Kobe Era. However ... Throwing out that idea now sets up an easy transition to the topic of just whom the Lakers can hope to lure with what should be a decent chunk of cap space in the summer of 2007, or maybe 2006 if general manager Mitch Kupchak can do some maneuvering.</div> Full Article: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/stor...marc&id=1896321 I have mixed reactions about this move if it were to happen. Would some other Laker fan lift my spirits to tell me why this would be a good move for our Lakers in the future?

Peja is a great scorer, but he lacks defense. Besides, I'd rather go after a big man.
Probably wont happen. there will be some team in desparate need of a scorer out east that will overlook his defensive flaws and will more than likely be able to offer a max deal to him. He has a home in FLA & has expressed interest in going back east. and that is assuming that either the Kings dont trade him, or figure out a way to resign him... there are two full seasons before his player option goes into effect & a lot of things can happen between now & then... its kind of premature to be lookin at it now realistically.
Emo...mixed feelings? Come on, you know better No offense to Kings fans, but no thanks. Peja is probably the best shooter in the league...when he's wide open. As for any other aspect of the game, he's not even ranked. His defense is terrible...he gets burned from the perimeter, and he can't defend the post either. His passing skills aren't that great, because he's usually the one getting the passes. He's as tall as Odom, but he can't rebound or block shots. There are others I'd rather have from the Kings, like Brad Miller or Mike Bibby...and that's it. Peja? Thanks, but no thanks.
I say get him as a free agent and trade him for Baron Davis striaght up or something. that is always a possibility
No thankyou, I prefer Odom over Peja any day..Peja isnt good in the playoffs and like stated previously by realdeal..he has troubles shooting when being covered...but Im all for Brad Miller if the Kings ever want to give him up..
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting yanix:</div><div class="quote_post">the article mentioned that the lakers didnt look so good in the first day of camp.... any thoughts?</div> No team goes out and plays perfectly in the first day of practice, either...so I'm not worried.
Hey EMO could you respond to my PM and I think we should get Peja or maybe even a rookie last year because theri cntracts usually expire then
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Zoltar:</div><div class="quote_post">or maybe even a rookie last year because theri cntracts usually expire then</div> What do you mean?
Zoltar and all other members..can you please take the time to spell out what you are going to say? I know I do not always do it, but most of the time I do...thank you...
dont rookie contracts last 3 years and 06 would be the year they expire and Lakers could pursue Wade or Melo or Bron, but i doubt but you never know
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Zoltar:</div><div class="quote_post">dont rookie contracts last 3 years and 06 would be the year they expire and Lakers could pursue Wade or Melo or Bron, but i doubt but you never know</div> Well, it would be really tough to pick up someone like LeBron and Melo. Plus, I'd rather have a PG or C...and Bron, Melo and Wade are either SG's or SF's (Wade is a PG also, but I don't care much for him anyways). Personally...if the Lakers were to wait (or trade for) a young player in the future, I'd like to see Okafor, Howard, or Ben Gordon come to Los Angeles...but that's not going to happen, unless it's about 8 years from now.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Zoltar:</div><div class="quote_post">Yao's contract expires soon haha lol</div> Well, I would definitely choose Yao Ming over Peja. Also, Amare is due in the next few years for an extension...but I doubt Phoenix will let him go, and I doubt he'd leave the Suns. I doubt that Yao would leave the Rockets also, that is unless McGrady runs him out of there.

well, i dont think it would be hard to pick up any good rookie player in the next couple season because of: -its the lakers(common, you get crazy media coverage just for being on the team, you usually will be known thro out the league) -you get to play with one of the best players in the league -you get to play on one of the most succesful basketball clubs in the league -you will be on a team that is rebuilding and is ready for you other than that the lakers are willing to pay money for a good rookie, they want one.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bobcats:</div><div class="quote_post">Nah, he wouldn't want to pull a Kobe Bryant. </div> In other words, I was saying that it more than likely wouldn't happen. Shaq was kicked to the curb deservingly, and by Buss and Kupchak, not Kobe. I don't understand why people blame Kobe for it. Didn't Shaq leave Orlando with nothing? He walked out. Shaq is not perfect...nobody is. If I were the GM, I would've traded Shaq for the first decent center to come into my office, whether it was Dampier or Nenad Krstic...and that's because Shaq was a cancer these last two seasons. What do you do with your 1997 Eclipse when your clutch is about to go out, and your timing belt is about to snap? You sell it to someone, but paint it first to make it look nice...and that's what the Lakers did. Stats were nice...sure, the Eclipse was running good for a little while, but then it was a near $2k to fix it. I hope the Heat can fix Shaq...but I doubt it. You said what you had to, I responded once. Back to topic.
