The Charlotte Bobcats unexpectedly waived reserve shooting guard Eddie House late Saturday, a move that one informed source said could soon make Los Angeles Lakers guard Kareem Rush a Bobcat.

The source said the Bobcats and Lakers are discussing a trade of Rush for one or more future second-round picks. A 6-foot-6 swingman, Rush has fallen out of favor with the Lakers this season, averaging 6.5 minutes and just under a point per game.

Rush makes about $1.17 million this season on a Lakers salary cap of $61 million. This would lighten the Lakers payroll slightly, and team owner Jerry Buss has always shied away from the possibility of paying luxury tax. The Bobcats are about $6 million under the salary cap, so they have plenty of room to absorb Rush' money, in the last guaranteed season on his contract.

Bobcats coach Bernie Bickerstaff initially said House had an "excused absence" from Saturday's game against the Knicks. Later, the Bobcats issued a press release saying House had been waived. House played well in Charlotte, averaging 11.1 points.

House's contract, which the Bobcats acquired from the Clippers, is worth about $825,000 this season.

Anyways about this trade i wouldnt want to get rid of rush with only draft picks in return i think we can do better than this.

I would love to get Eddie House on the Lakers, he was playing really well on the Bobcats and I think could be a better pg for this team than Chucky Atkins. Kareem Rush will be out of here before the deadline, I dont know what happaned and how he felt out with Rudy T, but this kid could be something good if he bulks up and adds more stuff to his game. I like him, but there is no reason he should rot away on the Lakers bench, I would send him for some draft picks if thats all we can get.

I agree, we should take a look at Eddie House. He's a lot better than Tierre Brown and can play both guard positions. As far as trading Rush for picks, I'm not feeling it either. As bad as he's playing, I think the Lakers can get more for him.

Rush was originally a 1st round pick...His contract is expiring making him more valuable ... I think we can do a lot better than a 2nd round pick ...

Yep, I'm going to agree about House. The Lakers can sign him for the minimum after trading Rush.

However, I wonder if LA skips out on House and trades Rush...to make room for Malone. [IMG] It's just too hard to predict what the Lakers are trying to do.

if the lakers are really considering picking up house, it seems they may have some competition from the nuggets.

I'd have to say that the Bobcats are surprisingly deep at the SG position, especially considering they are an expansion team. There's five teams with a worse record than the Bobcats right now and Knight had 18 assists and 5 steals in Charlotte's third 3 straight win at home against the Nicks.

Brown will penetrate and at least look for teammates.

House will gun. At least Bobbitt will pass out if the shot was bad, and has more size and good defensive skill.

    I'd prefer Bobbitt over House.

Ahhh....Eddie House? He's from my city of Hayward CA, attended one of my local high schools in the area, had his high school jersey retired, and now he could be a Laker? Wow....now that'll be the talk of the town over here. [IMG]

Bobbit is a good player but we can get alot more for Rush. Dont understand why not ask more. Perhaps sign House?

I'm thrilled we signed Bobbit. I always preferred him over Brown anyways. Hopefully, he can log in some good minutes for us..

Rush hasn't contributed a lick this year, so his loss shouldn't affect the team

Both good moves by L.A., they picked up Bobbit who, I think should of got the spot over Tierre, and they also grabbed 2 future picks for a player who was in the doghouse and not producing at all..

One of those 2nd rounders can go for Nate Robinson, unless he goes off this season and moves up in the draft.

Great job Lakers...for signing Bobbitt and dumping Rush. Now we have a little more defense in the backcourt, other than Kobe.

Atkins/Brown/Bobbit spliting what? 55 minutes a night, probably a good mix to keep the guy off his feet, I mean Atkins is a pure shooter, Brown is a guy who can drive to the whole and Bobbit is good at defense, all can contribute and if you mix them in out just right we should be better at the pg then regularly during the season, also if your wondering where i got 55 from and not 48 its cuz i figure kobe will take a 7-8 breather some point in the game.

Nate can't shoot though [IMG] , but lets not talk draft yet [IMG]

I like the signing of Bobbitt mainly because he's a much better perimeter shooter than Brown IMO ... outside of Cook, our bench has bench has been horrible so hopefully they can now pick up some scoring...

I sincerely hope Rush finds some PT in Charlotte and I'll be rooting for him. I guess L.A. just isn't made for the Rush family. (where are u Jaron??)
