The deal is Butler and Atkins for Brown, right? Well it leaves the Lakers with Vujacic as their only PG. But the Lakers plan to use the MLE and get a PG. Some FA's that would fill in their need are Daniels, Watson, Jaric. Either way, their PG will still be weak entering the season. Right now this is their depth chart: PG Vujacic SG Bryant / George SF Odom / Walton / Jones PF Grant / Cook / Turiaf / Medvedenko C Brown / Mihm / Bynum I still don't think the Lakers have upgraded themselves from last year and I consider them weaker than the Warriors.
They got shafted IMO. The only good thing you can say about Kwame is that he may start developing now but LA just drafted two raw bigs, adding another wont fill any holes at all. Caron is a very good young SF/SG, if the Lakers kept him he would probably score, rebound, and D up better than Kwame ever will. Washington gets rid of a useless headcase and gets a great young player and an expiring contract.
In my opinion the trade was ok for both teams, The Lakers get a young center that although has some attitude problems he still has alot of potential and can help the Lakers in the future. Now the Wizards get a PG in Atkins so he can start at Pg while Arenas plays SG. Then Butler is a rising star he has a ton of potential and can be great for the Wiz.

Right now how the rest of the NBA is doing on FAs and trades, Warriors, Suns, Nuggets, Rockets, Spurs will be top 5 seeds in draft
Lakers are obviously not done trading, but if they are... hah! Lakers could go after Antonio Daniels if the Blazers don't take him. I think he's decent and he's probably real affordable in terms of the whole package. For anyone not familar with his game, he's a combo guard, pretty big size at 6'4, can do a little bit of everything well, plays under control, he's athletic and quick. He's not the best shooter in the world, but he's improved his shot. He can score, but his main game is defense. He's also a pretty good passer, but he's not an out of this world playmaker.

Also with Mihm, Bynum, Cook, and Brown all at C, It makes me think that someone is gonna leave. I'd be all in favor for a three way that sends Foyle out of here with Dunleavy for Mihm and other team gets Foyle and sends LA something

Mihm is a good shot blocker and costs much less than Foyle.

Mihm, is a good player, shot blocker, and is much more offensively sound than Foyle. I also think that once Biedrins is ready to take over, Mihm wouldn't mind being the sixth or seventh man and come in to provide 6 points and 4 boards a night.
I heard on the Radio that Brian Grant may be waived. I wonder if there's any way we could pick him up for cheap and move some players. I think he'd fit in well,

He would mean less time for Biedrins, Taft, unless we move Foyle. The thing about Grant is that after being pampered by temas with big contracts, we will have to pay him a lot is my obvious guess is we'd have to pay him 7-10 million.
I don't think Grant will come to us, and frankly, I don't think we want him anyway with our roster. Recent Lakers moves are very interesting. You brought Jackson back, so you think they will add proven players to give Kobe a help. However, they drafted a high school kid, who probably won't impact next couple seasons. Then, you brought a big potential with big chance to be a bust for a proven player, who played with Bryant rather well. If they move pans out, they will challenge for West very soon. But if not... They traded Shaq for Odom, who really didn't pan out in both LA clubs so far, while biting both Brown and Grant's contracts...
The Lakers won't be crowded at C. Kwame + Mihm only play well half the time,Bynum needs to learn how before he does much, and Cook is no center-so it's like they have 1 1/2 centers. Brevin Knight would be good for them-but I assune they don't have cap room so they need a cheap guy
With them being weak at the PG could we pull off a Fisher to LA for whoever? That would open up room for the HS kid...
So you want to trade Fisher and his horrible contract and get something in return? Whats that? I think I here Rob Babcock! Chris Mullin: Hey Rob, what's going on? I'm looking to trade Derek Fisher and maybe we could work out a trade involving Aaron Williams or Lammond Murray and- Rob Babcock: Derek Fisher!? Wow, he could really help our team for the future. How does this trade sound, *ahem* I'll give you Chris Bosh and Morris Peterson for... Derek Fisher and Adonal Foyle. Chris Mullin: Ar-Are you serious? Rob Babcock: Why would I be joking? Chris Mullin: Oh..ok then. *cough* MORON *cough* Rob Babcock: What was that? Chris Mullin: Oh, oh nothing, so uh.. done deal right? I get Bosh and Peterson for Fisher and Foyle? Rob Babcock: That's right. Chris Mullin: Ok then, we'll announce the trade soon, see you later idiot- I mean, Rob.
1. Derek Fisher has a big contract but he can still produce. He is also a fan favorite in LA. 2. I dont know who I would want in return. Really a contract that expires in 1-2 years would be nice if anything.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Run BJM:</div><div class="quote_post">Fisher for Devean George works, George is an expiring contract.</div> i dont think the lakers are willing to take big contracts now unless its a superstar, because they have been saving money for the 2007 off season to aquire a big superstar like yao or amare. if fisher didnt have that bad of a contract, i think the lakers would do the trade in a flash.

BTW, how is Bynum doing?
