I hope this doesn't get moved to the "Other Basketball" section...I'm doing this for the Lakers forum to ask a few questions, so here we go.

Some of you know that I'm the one doing the Mock Off-Season, and we are in our second one. I'm using NBA Live 2004 (with a roster update as of August 28th) so the teams are accurate...and I'm in the first round of the playoffs for our first mock. Anyways, I thought about it...and I simulated the game between the Lakers and the Heat, and took a few screenshots and recorded some stats that are pretty interesting. Take a look...

Miami Heat @ Los Angeles Lakers
Saturday, December 25th (Christmas Day) at 3:00 PM on ABC

Final Score: Lakers 97, Heat 95

Game stats
Leading Scorers: Shaquille O'Neal (38 pts), Kobe Bryant (35 pts)
2nd Leading Scorers: Dwyane Wade (15 pts), Lamar Odom (22 pts)
Leading Rebounders: Shaquille O'Neal (13 reb), Lamar Odom (9 reb)
Leading Assists: Dorell Wright (5 ast), Kobe Bryant (8 ast)
Notables: Damon Jones (10 pts, 3 ast, 2 stls), Sasha Vujacic (4-5 FG, 2-3 3PT)
Shaq fouls out with 4 minutes left in the game, shoots 3-10 FT's. Michael Doleac replaces him, Lakers go on a 8-2 run, Kobe hits game-winner over Eddie Jones (about an 18-foot fadeaway) with 4.2 left on the clock.

Shaq outscores Kobe, but Lakers win and Kobe is clutch.

Here are some screenshots of the game!

Haha good stuff man. I expect the game to be a close one and come down to some clutch shots by Kobe as well. The fans will definitely cheer Shaq, because of his service as a Laker. There will be a few boo birds, but the Lakers organization has always been classy with returning players and I expect them to do something special for Shaq.

How will it effect Kobe? I think Kobe will actually be right there to join in the cheers. However, once the game starts, it will be all business and I know both Shaq and Kobe will try to out do one another.

With the current Laker roster, I'm not sure if they can beat Miami. I think the Lakers need one or two more solid perimeter players. The two best shooters are Kobe and Rush, but they play the same position. Atkins, George, and Butler are all streaky, and in order for the Lakers to neutralize their opponents inside presence, they need some consistent gunners capable of hitting the open mid range shots, and knocking down the occassional 3 point shot.

Kinda Ironic, that Kobe comes through when Shaq is on the bench.

Should be interesting to see who wins when Kobe and Shaq meet up for the first time as oppenents.....on the court.....in differerent uniforms.....non-practice uniforms.

What I really like about this game is that Miami had the lead throughout the first two quarters...in fact, in the second quarter, Shaq was out for 7 minutes with his 3rd foul. Let me say it again...3rd foul. This ultimately ended the game...right when Shaq fouled out, the Lakers were down by 5...they took the lead and then it went down to the wire. Vujacic hit a three...Damon Jones stepped up with a couple steals.

So in other words, the Heat had trouble keeping Shaq on the court, and I can almost guarantee that this will happen in real life also, whether it's from injury or foul trouble. Sure, Kobe pulled through in the clutch...but with Shaq there or not, he was going to hit that jumper on Jones. Anyways, if Shaq stayed in the game, he would've been shooting foul shots, and missing 70% of them...and the Lakers would've had an easier win.

Sure, Shaq will score more. Good for him...after all, it IS his team. Or...is it Wade's? Either way, I assure anyone that Kobe was walking off the court on NBA Live, staring at Shaq on the bench after hitting the game winner with a huge smile on his face. Too bad the game doesn't get that advanced [IMG]

Also, notice the assists by Kobe...he led the team. This reminds me of Jordan...something that Kobe will definitely have to do to get the Lakers to the top once again...share the ball. Shaq had 2 assists...wow. Vlade had 5 assists and he only played 22 minutes.

Haha...oook, Kobe had 35 points. I call that "coming through" for the first, second, third and fourth quarters. Kobe sat out the final 5 minutes of the second quarter...about 2 minutes less than Shaq did in the second. Also, with Shaq out in the 4th (when he fouled out) I only remember Kobe scoring the game winner and two jumpers...6 points total...with Shaq on the bench. Hmm.

Nice little simulation. That's a pretty accurate result...

I think (and hope) that Laker fans will cheer Shaq. He's been with us for 8 seasons and he wanted to leave because of disagreements with the owner/Kobe. He even had that letter to the Laker fans printed in the LA Times.

very nice simulation Real.

i'm with Shape sayin that the Laker fans will mos def. cheer for Shaq when he gets introduced or whatever. That's what I love about the Lakers organization, they are real classy about these kind of situations.

On to the game, I thought it was a very accurate depiction of what the game will probably be like on christmas day. I also think that the Lakers will take this one too, they are at home after all. How did you get your screen shots like this?

P.S. has it been like 4 years in a row that the Lakers have had their games on christmas day?

Ahahah that's nice sim there with the pictures to match, with pretty accurate results, coming down to the last shot. This is shaping up to be one of the greatest rivalries in the 00 decade and hopefully both teams can meet up in the finals to settle the score, like the celtics-lakers magic/bird days.

Btw nice sig Banks, I can't believe the Yankees let them score 22 runs, it's the largest lost in Yankee history. Cleveland is a weird team, they're capable of scoring so many runs and they're not #1 in the standings.

I'm using NBA Live for the PC...so there's an option in the Instant Replay that lets you take screenshots. Also, you can hit the F12 key during play, and it snaps one for you...but using the Instant Replay is better, so you can get closer and pan the camera where you want it. [IMG]

that is so funny real deal yeh i think the lakers are going to have to many components for the heat to stay up with them.

unless wade has a monster game playing point due to the lakes having no true point i think the heat might try to make matchup problems.

Thanks realdealbneal for the laughs this morning in the first screenshot. LOL

To answer your question, I think there's going to be mixed reactions for the fans at the Staples Center. I think during the pregame introductions, he'll receive a huge standing ovation in the history of Laker basketball. However, everything that he has been saying at Miami in interviews without saying Kobe's name even though it seemed obvious, and keeping himself in shape with Miami easily when it was like pulling teeth for the Lakers, and slapping our owner in the face about a contract extension and criticizing the front office, then I feel there will be some fans that'll boo him mercilessly.

I personally wouldn't boo him though. It would feel strange to see him as the enemy, but that man has done so much in providing our three championships and without him, we'd never would've celebrated a championship. He deserves some respect to a certain degree.

No need to root for the Lakers if you're a certified Laker hater. Makes no sense.

I was looking at Sasha's screenshot, and I'm wondering do you have his attributes you can give me so that I can create him on my PS2? I don't have my rosters updated at the moment just yet, so what I do is I follow all the transactions on ESPN and I do my rosters manually, but I'm not sure about how I should make Sasha look like. Think you can help me out?
