Lakers/Wolves Discussing Sign & Trade <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">St Paul Pioneer Press - The agent for Wolves free-agent swingman Latrell Sprewell said the Wolves and the Los Angeles Lakers are discussing a possible sign-and-trade deal. Sprewell's agent, Bob Gist, said a third or fourth team probably would need to enter the trade discussions to complete a deal that would satisfy all parties. "Kevin (McHale) and I are optimistic we can work it out," Gist said.</div> Anyone have more info on this?
It's probably going to involve Vlade Divac expiring contract for Sprewell straight up. However, the deal could get more involved if the Lakers try to acquire Kandi at the same time. He was once mentored by the Lakers new assistant coach, Kareem Abdul Jabar, and the Lakers don't have much depth on their frontline. Sprewell + Olowakandi for Divac + Profit + Slava + Jumaine Jones The TWolves could buyout Divac for $2Million and waive Profit. Also both Slava and Jone only have one year left on their remaining contracts.
^^^ That makes sense. They'd be setting up for next off-season. I hope it's different and involves moving more valuable players though( Wally, Odom, kandi etc.)
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting phiLA:</div><div class="quote_post">kandi? well, i dont want him, but i guess his contract expires in the next 2 seasons?</div> It expires after this season actually. He would be a 1-year rental for the Lakers basically.
^ well, that's good. i say pull the trigger mitch! just dont do anything stupid and sign sprewell to long term!
I'm not saying I want him........but Spre in a Lakers jersey just looks weird when I try to picture it. I thought Vlade was to retire a Laker for sentimental reasons.
He is retiring and Jumaine Jones is a good player. He is very underrated, but when i saw him play he is good. He does have tendencies to do to much and doesn't play smart, but he can knock down shots.

The TWolves would buy out his contract for $2Million, but actually save $4Million against the cap. The trade I posted up above, won't really help the TWolves this year, but they will save close to $10Million in cap space next summer, instead of only $6Million.
