I didn't expect the 49ers to take James, but am glad to see him going to my favorite NFL team. He may be a very good 3rd down back in he NFL. Welcome to the 49ers James!
yeah not the best need pick, but the niners had trouble scoring last year, dont mind throwing a few more gamebreakers into the offense
The 49ers don't really have any "needs" except at the interior line, but that can be filled in FA. Good to take the best player available. And Frank Gore has a lot of mileage on him and has already started to slow down. Jacobs is an older back that really slowed down last year, not even sure he'll make the team. In the future, perhaps James and Hunter can split the load. I really think James is better than Kendall Hunter.
Harbaugh respects guys that put the quack smack on his teams! I think SF will use LMJ exactly the way the Bucs did with with Warrick Dunn.
James is going to be better than Hunter. People underestimate him because of his size.. but hes a physical back.. I think he'll see quite a bit of playing time.
the question isn't if James can be productive in the NFL, it's whether he can stand up to the punishment. No matter how much muscle an athlete puts on, everybody remains fragile as the body has weak spots. While adding another 15-20 of core muscle probably helps his ability to endure Sunday beatings, LMJ's shiftiness + raw speed style seems to have had him avoiding big hits (unlike say Ruben Drones). Defenders are on their heals reacting, so he gets taken down as opposed to leveled. Hopefully he finds the right balance between speed and size and shows out. If things break right for him he could have a great pro career STOMP
here's a 26 minute introduction to the Bay Area interview of James... Tom Tolbert & Eric Burns are the hosts. Great stuff http://www.49ers.com/media-gallery/...-on-KNBR/eb153fb7-2bba-4029-9643-9eccd10d500a STOMP
I'm really excited that he's on the Niners. I can't wait to see what he does next season. I wonder what number he'll pick.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7...49ers-open-minicamp-seeking-fanatical-rookies One player that seemed to have no problem keeping up with Harbaugh's frenetic pace was lightning-quick LaMichael James, the former Oregon running back. The undersized second-round pick also fielded kickoffs and punts in his first practice under Harbaugh, whose last loss in college came against James and the Ducks in 2010. "I went to Oregon," James said, "so everything's quick-paced at Oregon, and I'm pretty used to the tempo." STOMP
So is JH going for a UO type pace next season? It sort of sounds like it. LMJ would be a great guy to help get that going.
nice read on LMJ's youth http://www.sacbee.com/2012/05/13/4486381/49ers-rookie-james-credits-grandmother.html STOMP
