Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello made himself available to the media following the first practice session of today’s development camp just to speak about the camp in general and the players attending.

He had no news to announce, but did say he hopes to have the team’s restricted free agents re-signed by the end of the week and that it’s possible an assistant coach to replace Matt Shaw will be hired by the end of the week.

The Devils’ most noteable restricted free agents are centers Adam Henrique and Jacob Josefson and goaltender Keith Kinkaid.

“Hopefully we’ll have everything wrapped up by the end of the week,” Lamoriello said. “That’s our intention, but until it’s done you don’t know. But that’s our target.”

Restricted free agents’ qualifying offers expire at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Henrique’s agent. John Thornton, already said signing his qualifying offer was “not an option.” Thornton as in New Jersey last weekend to meet with Lamoriello.

Josefson’s agent, Peter Wallen, told me Tuesday that he had a good intial conversation with Lamoriello and was planning to talk to him again today.
As for the assistant coach search, Lamoriello said, ““We’ll get that done as soon as possible. Hopefully by the end of the week, but certainly it’s not going to be anything pushed or rushed for the wrong reasons.”
