Lampe has been getting more minutes and he has been producing bigtime. He has an great outside jumper and a nice little hook shot. Also he has a pretty good NBA body RIGHT now. nba.com lists him at 275. He is probably less but he is no toothpick. So after watching the 19 year old Lampe play some significant minutes while watching Darko sit on the bench even in mop up time do you think that Lampe will be a better player than Darko when it is all said and done?
I do. Lampe is producing more right now and will continue producing more than Darko. Why dont the Pistons trade him or something that guy's got talent(not as much as Lampe) and they could get a veteran for him atleast, or atleast give him minutes. Anyway i think that Maciej Lampe will remain a better player till the end of his days in the NBA.
Remember, Lampe was projected as high as #5 pick when the Heat and Pat Riley worked him out in their gym. He dropped all the way to the second round because teams were scared of all the money issues he had with his old team Madrid. In other words, this guy is still a first round material player and is getting better by the more minutes spent on the floor. He also has great shooting range and is still very young. To say that he can be better than Darko one day is more than probable.
Well, Darko is a) younger, getting less playing time. None of us much about Darko, but he could be producing just as much as Lampe if he was given equal time, but unfortunately he's on a team that he won't get much playing time for a couple of years.
Lampe is very good, and yes he was projected high but dropped because of the problems. He can definately be better than Darko, but remember the Pistons are also more stacked up front and are playing for the playoffs, we are just playing for fun right now and have been for a while so we can give him minutes. They shouldn't trade Darko for a veteran because he can be their future, you NEVER trade a rookie like that after his FISRT year, and his first year isn't even over. Especially when that rookie is only 18 years old, common what did you expect, no one expected him to be some dominant force right now.
Lampe might become or might already be better Darko but it's hard to tell.People haven't seen Darko play much.So we can't really know. Even when Darko will get more minutes, it will be hard to say who is better because players are unique and one could be a better defender, another better scorer. So it's very hard to compare. But I think Darko will be a better player.
Far, too early to tell which player is better. Lampe was a steal for the Knicks, and the Suns did a great job in including him for Marbury. Lampe has tremendous upside and he showed he can play at a pro level in the summer leagues and NBA pre-season. I would give it at least 3 or 4 years before you can determine which player is better.
As of right now: Everyone is better than Darko. He doesn't get enough playing to show that he is better than all of the other rookies. Although you would think he would be good enough to log on more than a minute a game. It just isn't happenin this year for him.
Darko doesn't even get time and no one really knows what he can do. We won't be able to tell who is better until Darko starts getting more time, and that doesn't look like it will happen any time soon unless Detroit can't resign Wallace and/or Okur. If they don't bring them back though, Darko would all of a suddenly be a starter lol
