According to suns.com (reporter's notebook) Lampe is now at 6'11" and 275 pounds. Maybe he could play center against most and, at the least, the east. The boxscores showed him as 0-3. Did he just throw up random shots or were they at least good selection?

Well he played good minutes tonight against San Antonio, he's 6'11" easy, but 275? Doubtful... perhaps they are adding Shaq's missing pounds to Lampe's bio (Shaq's easily 350, listed at 300 though) Lampe seems to be a bit bigger than Voskul, so my guess is around 250.

Anyway to his game he played MUCH better than I thought he would have... I wasn't aware of how good he actually is. He faked a drive several times, then drove, spun, threw up and shot that went... it was more athletic than I thought he was. 8 points and 3 rebounds and 11 pretty good minutes, he was impresive for being so young and such an enigma, I wasn't sure what to expect, I always thought he was just an undersized center, but it turns out he may be a useful athletic forward, who can shoot well and sees the court pretty good. He spotted a wide-open Zarko under the basket, threw a bullet pass straight to him for a layout... again not expected from somebody so young who hasn't seen many NBA minutes.

Speaking of Zarko, I'm glad he's back in stride, playing quite a few minutes and sure did show some signs of his earlier success. I wish he would go for a thunderous dunk, I haven't seen one since Fortson clobbered him... if he gets a few down he should feel pretty good and confident.

Amare got his 11th straight 20 point game, I hope his (Suns') record setting 12th straight game will be a win. He was a rebound off of another double-double.

Barbosa, Marion, and JJ struggled tonight, combined shooting 11-32... I assumed JJ (with Bowen on him) wouldn't have a good game, and Marion has been struggling, so others were gonna have to step up, but nobody really did. It was a good flash of the future, and we finally got to see Lampe play a few good minutes... problem is how can the Suns make minutes for Stoudemire, Marion, Zarko, and Lampe? None make good centers, so they have a clog in the foward position. I expect a trade this summer...

Z and Marion are natural small forwards. they both have the necessary dexterity, speed, and driving capability. Z may be too scrawny to play PF against most and Marion is way to small, he's smaller than Rose, by 40 pounds and equal at height, who is one of the smallest effective PFs. Lampe may have the beef to play against other Euro centers and maybe can be matched up against larger centers to outmanuever like Jake can sometimes do. Amare has shown he has the size for center and the moves for PF. Keon too. So basically you have Voshkul, Amare, Lampe, and Clark or McDyess (if they resign one of them which I think they will) all as PF/C depending on the matchups. I don't think it's bad at all. Lots of teams play without an imposing center. Now we don't even need stromile swift like I had harped on in the past. Keon fits his spot nicely.
I was glad to see that Z and Lampe had good games. Lampe has been practicing with the team and if he gets paired with Amare or Z or Voshkul that is good experience for speed or strength.
Did amare try and pass outwards this game?

"Recent flareup at Suns practice started when Stoudemire and rookie Maciej Lampe went face-to-face and ended with Stoudemire taking an open-handed swipe at Lampe and connecting to the ex-Knick's face. "Amare's crazy," noted one teammate. Lampe, meanwhile, scored points with teammates for not backing down. "

One of the JustBBall rules is if you post words from an article (the whole thing, a part, it don't matter) you must supply the link, otherwise it's like you are claiming those words as your own and that's plagiarism. He did the right thing and showed that it wasn't his words, and gave credit to the true author.

I like Lampe, think he can be a good player like what we see out of him in his limited minutes.

He really has shown he can play center. according to a radio transcript of colangelo on suns.com lampe plans on working through the offseason and getting the starting center spot. I honestly doubt Jake would mind even.

In light of Lampe's performance I say screw FA and the draft and stick with what we got (and resign Dice as Amare's backup not a center). Pretty neat. With Voshkul's foot being bad off we'll see more of Lampe yet.

Phoenix should keep him until they can. I think this guy should have been drafted much much earlier than he was. Lampe can hold his own against the other big men in the league and he has shown that, and he should mess with amare. Look at the SIZE of Amare before you wanna mess with him.
