<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LAS VEGAS -- Hornets backup center Maciej Lampe has been busy since the regular season ended in April. Most of his time has been spent working on his low-post skills and getting into shape. Lampe has benefited from the extra work. After the first three games in the Vegas Summer League, he has been effective as a defender and inside scorer. In Sunday's 75-71 loss to the Orlando Magic, Lampe scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. "He's been in the weight room and his body is more defined," Hornets general manager Allan Bristow said. "He's got good here in the last eight weeks preparing for this." Lampe played in 21 games last season, averaging 12.4 minutes and 3.4 points. But in the summer league, Lampe is averaging 11 points and 7.7 rebounds, and his time on the court has increased to 24 minutes per game. Lampe, obtained by the Hornets in a January trade from the Phoenix Suns, wants to play a bigger role this season. He knows it must start with summer league. "Since the season ended I've tried to play basketball every day and I've lifted a little bit," said Lampe, who will be entering his third season in the league. "That's about it, but I'm just trying to show the coaches that I belong and I really want to be here. I just want to play. "The main thing I have to improve is my aggressiveness, and that's what I'm trying to show. I can play defense and get some rebounds." But Coach Byron Scott still is not totally satisfied, wanting Lampe to become more aggressive. </div> Source
