Thanks to all of you guys for stepping up...unfortunately the timing will not work out for me to attend but I'll just send my condolences now and hope there's a fitting turnoout for the Dude...The Dude Abides! RIP Lanny! I like the idea of reincarnation and hope Lanny is reincarnated as a future 7'2 Bill Walton clone in Portland and wins a chip with the team down the road playing next to both my grandsons!
I've got work and kids, but if needed, I'd have figured it out. I've thought about Lanny a fair amount lately. He worked at a company my wife's father was the VP of (at a different time). Death is bullshit.
Unfortunately I am not able to get away from work. We happen to be in our union negotiations this week which happens once every three years. Being the only project manager available because the others are in negotiations, i cant leave the office. ….
really sad to hear this. being half a world away in new zealand is a gift and a curse, moreso the latter in situations like this. Lanny and I didnt have too many direct conversations, but he was always a great dude and a beloved member of the community can we possibly let the Blazers know? they may do a last shout out to him at a coming home game? RIP my guy and enjoy the great pinwheel in the sky - have fun being courtside
also, i know we cant really change the forum name, but how about the OT sub forum? Lanny's Lounge - OT Blazers Talk etc ? this probably has been already suggested, but would be a nice touch
If some of you can't make the funeral and/or interment Lanny's family and some of us from the forum will be meeting at Buffalo Gap Saloon & Eatery at 6835 S Macadam Ave, Portland, OR 97219 immediately after the interment. Everyone is invited to come. I will post when we're leaving the cemetery.
I've been trying to figure out a way to make it. Unfortunately I have a shop wide rollout of a new system this Thursday and I will be busy for most of Wednesday working with the vendor to make sure it's all set up and ready to go. I just don't think I can swing it.
It was a wonderful service and burial. Military burial with one hell of a rendition of taps. It was great to see everyone who showed up and to share good memories at the reception afterwards. Here's looking at you Lanny. RIP my friend.
Not a dry eye when the soldier handed her the flag. Very touching! Was a very nice day for a very deserving person.
