I asked about what made Larry so great, and I got some real insight on the player instead of just the stats. I really thank the people who helped. With that in regard, how did you guys feel when he made the statement about the difference between black and white players, and the difference he felt by being defended by them?
Larry is no idiot, he knew that being a white guy in a predominately black sport in a very Irish city like Boston was a big boon to him, endorsement-wise, so I'm sure it skewed his perspective. But, I disagreed that the NBA needed more white players, I think that it needs more fundamentally sound American players, regardless of color. I mean, whats the biggest complaint you hear from the NBA bashers? "Everyone travels and no one can hit a 15 foot jump shot." And as for being insulted when he was guarded by white guys, I think Larry wanted to by guarded by the other teams best player and since he knew he was the best white guy in the game, if they put a white guy on him then he wasn't being guarded by the best player.
