The surgery was necessary to revise a previous hip replacement. The left hip, which Brown had replaced 15 years ago, was recently causing severe pain. The surgery was performed by Dr. Sam Nasser and assisted by team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Robert Teitge at Michigan Orthopedic Specialty Hospital of Troy, MI. Nasser is the head of replacement surgery at Wayne State University. In Brown's absence, the Pistons have named lead assistant coach Garfield Heard the interim head coach.</div> Link
