I made this award up, lets just get that out of the way. It is about the last 10 best players to come out of the 2nd round in the NBA. Let's get this started.1995-Eric Snow. It took a while to get him going, but he came into his own with the 76ers, and now with the Cavs. He is a smart pg, who rarely gets picked. He has great court vision and was a great pg next to AI with the Sixers. He is the first winner.1996-Jeff McInnis. He was chosen with the 38th pick in the 1996 draft. He has had some good years in a Clippers uni, and also with Cleveland and Portland. He is a good passer and has averaged ove 10 ppg and 4 apg over his career. He is currently unhappy in New Jersey, and should do well in a new home.1997-Stephen Jackson. It took him until 2000 to enter the NBA, but he has not looked back since. He is a great scoring guard, and good shooter, and has averaged 14 ppg in 6 NBA seasons.1998-Rashard Lewis. This was a good year for 2nd round picks. Others include Rafer Alston, Jerome James, Cuttino Mobley and Ruben Patterson. Rashard was overlooked coming from high school, but he is an athletic forward with very good NBA range and talent. He's averaged 16 ppg in 8 seasons.1999-Gordon Giricek. Gordon is a great shooter, and has been averaging 10 ppg in 4 seasons, so he wins the award for 1999. He's currently starting at SG for the Utah Jazz and scoring 10 ppg.2000-Michael Redd. One of the biggest steals in NBA history; Redd is a great scoring and shooting guard, and one of the bests in the NBA currently. He has averaged a little over 19 ppg for the Bucks. I'm sure they're very glad they gambled on him.2001-Gilbert Arenas of course. That is why the award is named after him. Gil is what you would find in the dictionary if you looked up explosive. He jets to the hoop, and no one can stop him. He also has very good range, and he is a great shooter. He currently scores 29 ppg. Over his career he has averaged 21 ppg, and he's only going up from here.2002-The first big man to be chosen; Carlos had 2 great seasons with the Cavs, and 2 more succesful campaigns with the Jazz. He is a beast on the boards, averaging over 9 for his career. he is also a good downlow scorer and currently scores 16 ppg. Over his career he has averaged 14 ppg and is only looking up.2003-Kyle Korver. He was chosen with the 52nd pick! He is currently one of the best shooters in the League, and the starting Small Forward with the 76ers. He has averaged over 9 ppg for his career, and is only getting better and maturing as a player.2004-Chris Duhon. He has had 2 succesful seasons as a combo guard for the Bulls. He has a very high basketball IQ, playing for Duke, and is a good passer with good court vision. He's averaged 7 and 5 in 2 seasons with the Bulls, and has a tremendous future ahead of him.2005-Salim Stoudamire-Just played his first season in the NBA. He was selected with the 31st pick, and has averaged 9.3 ppg, while shooting very well for the Hawks. He is an electric scorer, and should do well with the Hawks in the future. He barely beats out Gomes, because Gomes didnt have a tremendous start..Well, who will be the next winner? My pick is Daniel Gibson. He has tremendous talent, and he is a talented shooter, scorer and passer.Comment, or add your own if you want.

Why is this called the Gilbert Arenas award when you started it basically with Eric Snow. Are you telling me you named Eric Snow the Gilbert Arenas award winner when Arenas wasn't even in the league? [IMG]

I think 2005 would have to be shared with Gomes.

It's amazing how The Wizards got the best player in the 2001 draft but not with their number 1 pick. One of my favorite NBA oddities.
