They all talked about Lillard and Aldridge should be "shoe ins" for the all-star game. They said the duo is probably the top 3 in the entire league.

It would be soooo awesome if Lillard makes it. It would be nice if we have the #1 seed when they decide, so our coach would play them a little more than 3 minutes.

It would take a lot of injuries for Lillard to make it, imho.

I want to believe that Lillard will make it, but the west is just so stacked... I think Aldridge will make it for sure, but we will have to be top three for Lillard to make it.

Eh. Let them have the time off. ASG just isn't important anymore. Good job, Stern.

Probably the first seed imo. Check out the point guards in the NBA:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics/_/position/pg

Paul and Curry are 100% shoe ins.

Parker and Westbrook are like 80% guaranteed.

Lawson, Conley, and Bledsoe are arguably having better years. It's going to be tough.

I think if Lillard got his shooting % to a respectable number, he would have a better shot at getting in.

Of qualified players, he is 3rd in scoring, but 13th in fg% for PG's in the west

    9th in assists

No one cares about FG%, just how many points you score. This is the national media, after all. :ghoti:

I agree, but I also think the assists are more important than the shooting. If he were averaging closer to 8 assists per game, he'd have a better chance. If he were in the East he'd be in for sure, but I don't see who he's going to beat out. Certainly not Paul or Curry, and Westbrook is probably guaranteed a spot.

Oh well, if it happens, it happens.

Last night, Blake was much better than Lillard. The Blazers are decentralized. Players don't stand out unless you use statistics to force someone like Aldridge to stand out.

They either know, or don't know anything, depending on what side of the Blazers they are on

I think it does have an impact on refereeing. Once a guy is an All Star, it's the NBA equivalent of being a made man in the mafia, at least for a while. You start getting the whistles for contact more and get to the line more.

That, and if you ever want to trade the guy it seems to add a little cache, at least to marketing your team, that you've added a guy who is a "former All Star" (lord knows we've been duped by Former All Stars Jamaal Magloire and Dale Davis and Shawn Kemp and I'm sure a few more.) So it ups trade value a little, IMO.

Brandon Roy truly arrived when he made his first All Star team, and I think a big reason he got that Minnesota deal was because he was Former All Star Brandon Roy.

There are a few hidden benefits to being an All Star, and so I'd like Lillard to be in the game. For about 5 minutes, and then let him rest.

Why is Curry a 100% shoo-in? His team sucks. Lillard can beat him. Parker certainly can.
