After waiting out a delay of more than an hour because of lightning, FC Dallas produced its own lightning strike Sunday evening at Pizza Hut Park.

A stunning 88th-minute goal by Brek Shea on a high-arcing shot from the far left side into the right corner of the net gave FC Dallas a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy, Major League Soccer's most high-profile team.

FCD (3-3-1, 10 points) outbattled the league leaders in a second half played in a downpour and stopped at the 82-minute mark because of lightning in the area.

A 51st-minute goal by Team USA star Landon Donovan pulled the Galaxy (4-2-3, 15 points) even after 18-year-old Colombian striker Fabian Castillo scored his first MLS goal for FC Dallas just two minutes after halftime.

After an uneventful first half -- with only a couple of scoring chances for each team -- the teams played an energetic, fast-paced second half despite a 45-degree weather,38-degree wind chill and a soaked pitch.
