<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Stefanski ranked it as the team's most intense predraft workout to date.

"Right from the start, from beginning to end, [it was] really highly competitive," said Warrick, who's expected to be picked in the middle of the first round. "We really did bring the best out of each other."

Villanueva, who figures to go between the middle and end of the first round, agreed.

"I'm getting tired of Hakim," Villanueva said of his former Big East rival with a smile.

Warrick, who stayed at Syracuse four years and helped the Orange win a national championship in 2003, can play the small or power forward. He's been working hard on his outside shot and has bulked up to 225 pounds.

"It's tough," Warrick said about the 'tweener questions. "All I can do is go out there and play and continue to show that I can play on this next level. Coming into college, a lot of people didn't think I could play at that high level, and I accomplished a lot of things." </div>

The nets also might get Sean May at the 15 spot to replace K-Mart, I think that would be a pretty good pickup.

I would like some athletism, it is crucial to our fastbreak game to have a 4 that runs the floor well, but we also need help in the half-court game with a big that can be pshyicalaround the basket and block some shots. Everybody talks about replacing Kenyon Martin in this draft but that is going to be impossible in my opinion because their isnt anyone that brings the combination of all his attributes, K-Mart without the ball ran the floor better than alot of two's & three's in this league. And yet he could still be psyhical around the basket in a half-court setting, I dont really see that type of combination availbe in this draft, so next tuesday is going to be interesting to see what Ed & Rod chooses to do.

Warrick would probably do good in the nets fastbreak game. Although he dosent really have a posisiton he would be a good pick.

    Draft Report Update

    Post Article:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"This draft is just so weird" stenfanski admitted. "There are alot of players on the board we have to consider but it seems the situation is constantly changing. Other than maybe six players, you cant say with certainty someone will be there or wont be there." </div>

Looks like the cat is still deep in the bag on what direction the Nets are going to go come draft night. There are alot of players in this years draft while they may have major strong points they also have downsides. So it is going to come down to whether the Nets want to add major athletism to the frontcourt to make the running game even stronger then they may go with someone like Warrick. But if they want a guy who can be more of a half court presence then Simien, Diogu, or May will be the direction. And of course you have the young projects with serious upside but negative images attahed to their names like Taft and Charlie Villanueva. A interesting draft night is ahead for New Jersey tommorrow.

If the nets can't get Warrick they should definetly consider Sean May.

A named mentioned in the article hasnt been discussed by Nets fans and I found a profile write up on Fran Vazquez. I felt the need to post it for those who maybe unfamiliar with him.

    Fran Vazquez
    Spain
    6'10, 229
    Power Forward/Center

    Strenght:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Fran Vazquez is an athletic piant player, who displays great speed and moblity, nice coordination and very good leaping ablity. He's gifted with very long arms and decent strenght despite his skinny appeance.</div>

    Weakness:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Fran Vazquez is far from really being a skilled player. His array of offensive weapons is rather limited. He has problems playing with his back to the basket. </div>

    -----------

Your always taking a major risk when drafting a overseas bigman especially one that doesnt have the defined skills that certain bigs from overseas have like the shooting ablity etc.. But one thing about Fran Vazquez seems to have the athletism to be a strong finisher around the basket. Alot of the bigs we have had in recent with the exception of Martin really, have not been guys that can finish easy plays around the basket created by Nets perimeter players. Collins especially is a guy who isnt a strong finisher of easy plays created by others. The problem most glaring with Vazquez is the fact that he isnt good with his back to the basket, which means he is going to have trouble creating his own shot in this league.
