New York Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes underwent an MRI on Sunday that revealed nothing more than a thigh bruise, according to coach Tom Coughlin.

Tynes suffered the injury after Carolina linebacker Sean Ware ran into his leg with his helmet following a blocked 44-yard field goal attempt during the Giants' 20-10 loss to Carolina in the preseason opener Saturday.

"He does have a bruise on his thigh and we will take it as best we can," Coughlin said in a conference call with reporters. "I'm not going to predict about how long he will be out but he will be a full-time participant in that training room, that's for sure."

The Giants' next preseason game is next Monday night against Chicago, so they could sign a kicker while Tynes rehabs.
