Lazio obtained a vital three points at home against Catania, who were beaten 2-0 thanks to goals by their strikers Tommaso Rocchi and Goran Pandev.

The Biancocelesti went into their home game against Catania in 15th place and after having endured one of their poorest runs of forms in years. The Sicilian club were five places and four points above them so they were never going to be walkovers.

Lazio got a much-needed boost right at the start of the game, as striker Tommaso Rocchi got them an early goal in the 8th minute. He found the net with a nice header on a free kick by Cristian Ledesma.

The home side played a good match and managed to contain the visitors' reaction well for the remainder of the match. Four minutes before the end, Catania's Gionatha Spinesi got himself sent off for insulting the referee, making things easier for Lazio, who quickly found the second goal that sealed off the win.

This time it was Goran Pandev who found the net, as he latched onto a nice pass inside the area and beat goalkeeper Ciro Polito as he was coming off his line (89').
