<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">OKLAHOMA CITY, Jan. 12 -- Caron Butler is earning respect from his peers around the NBA when it comes to whether the Wizards forward should be selected as an all-star.

New Orleans Hornets forward Rasual Butler, a teammate of Butler's during his first two seasons with the Miami Heat, said he always knew Caron Butler was capable of reaching his current level.

"When guys are given the opportunity to be one of the top three guys on the team, your confidence goes up as more plays go to you," Rasual Butler said. "And sometimes that's all it takes is more opportunities. And Caron has used those opportunities to produce and become an impact player. He's having an all-star season."

Before Friday night's game against the Hornets in Oklahoma City, Butler was averaging 21.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game, all career highs.

"You've got so many good forwards over there [in the East], but I would say he's having an all-star-caliber year," Hornets Coach Byron Scott said. "He should definitely have big-time consideration as far as if he makes that team."</div>

I never took in consideration how he has been playing like an all-star this season until the Pistons loss late in November. He has been consistent every game this season scoring at least double figures every game and I'm loving how he's been getting some recognition along with Arenas lately.

I saw Caron in his first two seasons and I knew he was going to be a great player. He's added a lot to his game as well, his mid-range and three point shots have improved so much since he came into the league. I was real sad when he left Miami but I guess Riley had to do it because it was the only way to get Shaq. I think he will only get better and become a star in the league.

One great thing about him after the first few (18) games was that he started understanding the offense better and didn't have to think so much about what he was doing on the court. In the last like 18 games he's averaged like 25 points, ~8 rebounds, ~5 assists, and over 2 steals a game while being very efficient with his scoring about a .600+ TS%.

Is their anyone more underrated than Caron Butler right now? If people were to look at his stats for the first time they would be like 'oh ****, Carons putting up 20/8/4?'

Caron is awesome. The guy is going to be an all star and is probrably the most consistent on the team.
