<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sorry, LeBron. I?m one of your biggest fans, but you have a better chance of leading the Cavs to the 2005 NBA crown than averaging a triple-double. If, dear readers, you saw the NBA?s lame preseason promos, you know that many players have made New Year resolutions for the 2004-05 campaign. For example, Ben Wallace, regurgitating the rhetoric of bossman Larry Brown, resolved to ?Keep on playing the game the right way.? One can imagine Ben going through his ?right way? checklist: ?Lead the league in rebounds. Check. Lead the league in blocked shots. Check. Make all the hustle plays. Check. Sink half of my free throws. Check. Start a scuffle with Artest that leads to riot and elimination of Indiana as a threat to our Eastern Conference crown. Check.? Whereas Ben?s vague resolution is open to interpretation, LeBron?s is clear-cut. King James intends to match the great Oscar Robertson?s 1961-62 feat of averaging a triple-double ? that is, average at least 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. No one besides the Big O has ever averaged a triple-double, and he did it just once. This is LeBron?s second season, and 1961-62 was Oscar?s second season. That year he scored a cool 30.8 points per game while dishing out 11.4 assists and snaring 12.5 rebounds. </div> Full Article <font color="DarkRed">Please post less of article next time. Thanks. It's pretty obvious though that no one will average a triple double in our time. Magic Johnson is the closet person who was able to average a triple double in the modern basketball era(80's-present). If Magic couldn't get it done I dont think any one can. A oversized point guard in the near future is most likely our only hope possibly Shaun Livingston can average one.
Some players, like Garnett, might be able to average a triple double if they wanted. But his scoring would likely go down, and his team wouldn't be as good. And before LeBron contemplates averaging a triple-double for an entire season, maybe he should first achieve a triple-double in a single game!
obviously its not even likely that bron will do it...but if any current player in the NBA has the capability of doing it some day i dont see why lebron cant. he's already at 25, 7.4 and 6.5 and its just his 2nd year. one thing that article left out was the age difference. how old was the big O when he was in his 2nd season? lebron has a few years to go before he reaches his peak...if he's 19 and hasnt reached his peak yet...is 2.5 more rpg and 3.5 more apg that out of the question? seems realistic to me likely? no. possible...more possible then it seems to get made out to be imo
No one can a triple double anymore.. just aint gonna happen. If it did it would happen to KG or maybe James but I dont think it will ever happen.

I think that KG, if he wanted to, could do it. He already averages more than enough in pts and boards. If he sacrificed 10 shots a game, it could happen. But his scoring would suffer, and ultimately, his team would really suffer so he's not gonna do it. I think he is capable though. And I think he's the only one in the L who is capable.
If he wanted to? Everyone would want to get that but he won't.. I dont even think if he tried only to get that then just winning he would have a hard time.
If Bron ever manages to get that in any part of his career I would just bow down in every game I see him play on tv. That would be crazy to get that in this day and age. Especially with big Z and Gooden having a big part with rebounding.
i could see him doing it....assists will be the hardest for him...since he's not surrounded by a great cast of players. a good one...but not great.
There will never be another Oscar Robertson, I have accepted that fact. I thought though when lebron was a senior in high school he might be the next Oscar Robertson. But after reading O's book, there will never be another version of him. Lebron isn't as reolutionary to todays game as Oscar was to hid days game. Point guards in the game at his time were 5'11-6'1, here comes this lanky 6'5 guy that can post you up or run past you. If you analyze his rookie year stats you will see that he was only 20 assists shy of averaging a triple double. He also made the all-star team his rookie season, and in that game he had 23 points, 14 assists, and 9 rebounds. Oscar led the league in scoring once, foul shots made four times(not one of those did he lead in shots taken), free throw percentage twice, assists six times, and last he led the league in assists per game eight times in his career. I mean I love Lebron just as much as the next guy, but he will never accomplis most of those.
If Lebron ripped down more rebounds he could get some triple doubles but he also needs a few more assists.
