James said he thinks the return of Hughes, who spent the last week grieving the death of his brother, will be a key addition.

''It will add more energy and add more of a will to win,'' James said.

The Cavaliers made no announcement on Hughes' return.

''It's all about Larry,'' James said. ''Larry's strength and spirit are helping us now. We're coming together by any means necessary.''

    Close encounters

The Cavaliers are 13-1 in games decided by three points or fewer since Feb. 6.

''You have to believe in the system and in one another,'' Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said. ''You also have to have poise and composure down the stretch.''

    He's at it again

Pistons big mouth Rasheed Wallace referred to official Ken Mauer as ''Little Pat Riley'' after Game 5.

Wallace was miffed at Mauer's call of a loose-ball foul on him when he hit Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao in the mouth.

''You saw the calls,'' he told the Detroit Free Press. ''Little Pat Riley said I smacked him when I already had the ball, and then LeBron smacks Chauncey (Billups). Every time we got close, there was some B.S. That leads me to think some other things, but I'm not going to say what those things are.''

Apparently, Wallace thinks the officials want the Cavaliers to win.

    Bench production

The Cavaliers bench has outscored the opposition in the 11 playoff games, 290-167.

The bench has outscored the Pistons in every game of the series except Game 1. They had a 28-13 edge in Game 5.

''In order for us to win, we need great bench production,'' James said. </div>

If Larry Hughes continues to stink it up offensively on his return, I'd be a bit worried.

Then again, the Cavs are leading the series because of their defense, not offense. And Hughes is definitely a defensive upgrade over Damon Jones and Flip Murray.

Which Cavalier fan wouldn't want to have Larry back !?

He's defense and energy are very important for this team.

Yes that kinda true but they've won three straight without him as crazy as that is, so there's a chance he might hurt the chemistry going on.
