If you are starting your own brand new franchise in the NBA, and have a chance to pick between Lebron James or Chris Paul as the building block for your team, who would you choose and why? Both are young, extremely talented players with their best basketball ahead of them. Both of them are now considered to be top 10, or top 5 players in the league, and have been canidates for the MVP award. Lebron is a physical freak, he can score, grab boards, get assists, he can pretty much do just about everything. His build allows him to bully defenders, and he is nearly unstoppable driving to rim. Chris Paul has recently emerged as one of the best, if not the best point guard in the NBA at such a young age. He is virtually unstoppable with his speed, and his ability to make plays makes him equally as dangerous. Both young, talented players. Both with great futures ahead of them. Who would you choose to start your franchise?
If you were starting a new franchise in 1980, and you could choose between Larry Bird and Magic Johnson as the building block for your team, who would you choose, and why?
Lebron, both have been great this year, but if I would choose a 6'8 250 pound freak of nature, or a 6'3 175 pound freak of nature. In basketball I'd have to take the King.
CP3, even though he has been a beast this season, will still be limited in his potential because of his height (it will factor in as he grows older) and what he uses in the game (speed)... Le Bron would be the more obvious and SAFE choice
SF is the easyiest position to fill in the draft. This aint a knock on James but Id rather have the best PG, and a decent SF then the best SF and a PG that is limited on his options. IE Boobie has to look for Lebron first, 2nd, I heard that even if James is on the bench he has to look for him.
I will pass on both of them and take Dwight Howard....I can find a 3 or a 1 to compliment the big man easier than I can find the big man....
I would pick LeBron. He's freakishly fast and strong at the same time. And then I'd actually pick Dwight Howard over Chris Paul.

Dwight > LeBron > Paul That's how mine would go.
LeBron's still had the more impressive individual season in my opinion. He's also got a more impressive body of work up to this point, I'd give him the edge.
Yea, I agree I would take Dwight Howard over this two guys. Second I will probably take LeBron because hes explosive and he could be a triple double machine.

Alright, I will play by the rules....I will take Chris Paul...my reason is that I can pair Paul with any other non-PG and I know that Paul will make him better....if I pair another scorer with LeBron, their games may not mesh....optimumly, Id like to get Paul and then add a 4 who can score so I can pick and roll anytime I want....think Stockton/Malone
LeBron every day of the week and twice on Sunday (I've always wanted to say that, lol) He can be the playmaker that every team needs, can take it strong to the hole and on his day has a good shooting touch. If he can be more consistent with his shooting and develop his post-up game a bit more, he might just be unstoppable. A 6'8 250lb player will be hard enough to stop when he posts up, but if on the next play he is barrelling through the lane at high speed it will be nigh-on impossible to guard him. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cavs (should he stay there) develop a new offensive system (obviously when Mike Brown leaves) to make the most of his talents.
this is actually a tough decision for me. I think both are great at making those around them better and I still think both have a lot of potential. I'll give the edge to Bron, because of his freakish size and ability though, but it's closer than some might think..........I think Chris Paul is that good.
