Did anyone notice that LBJ traveled by moving his pivot foot on the up and under move against Antonio Daniels? It was done right wrong that the refs didn't call it. Order of events 1. Drives to the hole against Daniels 2. Executes a small jump stop 3. Extends right foot towards the basket and takes the shot after moving other foot, hangs and hits the shot. It was a great shot that he hit, but he traveled in order to do it. He officially stopped after the jump stop, and then took short steps for the shot. Regardless of whether it was a great play of not, it was still a rule violation, and he should have been called for it. Look from the overhead cam on NBA.com.
What surprised me is that the announcers didn't even point it out as a travel, even though it was blatant. It's like they're more interested in the story ("LeBron Hits Game Winner In First Road Playoff Game!") than the integrity of the game.
That's because the media and refs are all in love with Lebron. Did you see the ABC broadcast of his first game? "We celebrate you Lebron" "We are in awe of you Lebron"... and so on and so on. It was a travel and should have been called.
If anyone actually looked at it he took a hop step, and if you look at his steps afterward he was being bumped around. I guess the refs decided a no-foul call and insted let the play go. Either way if it was a travel, this is not the first times refs have not called a travel in the nba.
Ooh an NBA player travelled get the f*** out of here big deal, they never call travelling. It was a good game anyways.

That same EXACT move is the reason why my team is at home watching the Playoffs instead of being in it.
He definately traveled. I am really disappointed with NBA officiating during the Playoffs so far. In every series officiating has been questionable.

In the playoffs the refs are determining the outcome of a lot of games by making the wrong call or not making any call at all. The one area the league needs to clean up is flopping. Players are getting away with it more and more. A little contact and one player launches himself and the official falls for it everytime. LeBron obviously travelled on the final shot, and he was also hammered when he got the shot off. If the refs aren't going to call the travel, they should have given LeBron the And 1. Congrats to LeBron for breaking another record, 41 points in his first playoff road game.

The refs should not allow a player to take three+ steps at such a critical point in the game. It was such a blatant travel too, but since Lebron is the NBA's little baby, they let it go. Even if it was a foul, you wave the basket off and make anti-clutch earn it at the line.

The man with the best shooting percentage in the last two minutes of a one possesion game. He's so un clutch.
^^because he doesn't take the majority of shots is why his percentage is so high. Look at the end of game 2, where he tried to pass to Verajao when they were down by 3.
LeBron James is not the anti-clutch. He had a stretch of games midway in the season where he wasn't coming through, but he's become reliable since those games. If LeBron gets favorable calls, you can't be upset at LeBron, be upset about the lousy officiating and the governing body who regulates them.
They should call all the travels. They never call them anymore. That was a travel though. Some star players also get more foul calls when they drive to the basket. I don't really like that at times when other role players drive in and they get a no call, usually it's not a foul but some star players get them.
Somewhat off topic, but I want to address this "anti clutch" nonsense (again). Let's look at the regular season stats last 5 minutes of regulation and overtimes, with neither team ahead by more than 5 points (from 82games.com): LeBron James: <div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><br/><font color=""Blue"">minFGM/48FGA/48eFG%FTM/48TS%Ast'dPTS/48AST/48</font><br/>18113.725.657.2%17.763.2%23%46.98.2<br/></div> Kobe Bryant: <div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><br/><font color=""Blue""><br/>minFGM/48FGA/48eFG%FTM/48TS%Ast'dPTS/48AST/48</font><br/>17113.43739.0%18.550.7%23%47.34.2<br/><br/></div> Dwyane Wade: <div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><br/><font color=""Blue"">minFGM/48FGA/48eFG%FTM/48TS%Ast'dPTS/48AST/48</font><br/>13014.430.647.0%2160.2%23%49.78.1<br/></div> Carmelo Anthony <div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><br/><font color=""Blue"">minFGM/48FGA/48eFG%FTM/48TS%Ast'dPTS/48AST/48</font><br/>1718.921.443.0%17.358.8%70%35.71.4<br/></div> I included Anthony's numbers for fun, even though he's clearly not in the same class as the other 3 players. People made a big deal about him being the most "clutch" player in the league, but in particular take note of the percentage of his field goals that were assisted (70%), and the number of assists he got per 48 minutes (1.4). That right there explains where Carmelo is at this stage in his career. He's a gunner, and he's not at the point where he can create opportunities for his teammates. This has been abundantly clear in the playoffs. People have a tendancy to fixate on dramatic single plays like game winning shots (or misses), instead of drawing conclusions based on aggregate information over a season. The latter is always your best bet if you really want to understand how good a player is. LeBron scores nearly as much as Kobe and Dwyane at the end of games, despite being a bit more selective with his shots. His overall scoring efficiency (including field goals and free throws, TS%) is very strong while he's obviously a willing passer. Overall, he's simply been spectacular. Among the "big three", Kobe appears to have been the weakest in clutch situations this season. This probably explains the Lakers poor record in close games. He's been a high-volume, low-efficiency player late in games, and despite probably demanding numerous double teams his assists are very low. Wade has been spectacular (I think he's the best clutch player in the game). He's an efficient scorer, a prolific scorer, but also a willing playmaker. And yet, his production is roughly similar to LeBron's (he scores more, but slightly less efficiently).
Great comparisons Durvasa. I definately agree with you that the myth that Lebron is not clutch is utterly uncalled for and it basically a storyline being run with by the media so that Lebron has an adversary to overcome. You can't have superman without krytonite. I wouldn't be so quick to donwplay how clutch Carmelo has been though. It is true that in terms of last minute points in close games he hasn't quite been as good as the other three... but he has probably been the best player in the league on the game winning shot. Think you could add Paul Pierce to the comparison. It would be interesting to see how he ranks with the elite. I would also expect Kobe's efficiency to be lower than Wade's because of the ability of teams to key in on Kobe knowing full well that they have no one else to fear on the Laker's roster. Lebron is a different story all together. Of all the players in the league right now... he may be one of the hardest to stop individually because of his size and speed.
Everyone was predicting Lebron to lose this playoff series and everyone gave them no hope. I chose them to beat the wizards and so far (2-1) its going well. On the travel yes it was a travel, but ive seen one call of travel in the nba in 3 years of watching. I seriously cannot remember someone being called for a travel! The last travel i saw was the other day in the Phx LA game. The call needed to be made and wasnt. Bad Luck for Wizards fans and you got away with everything Cavs fans!
Are people actually complaing about a travelling no-call in an NBA game??? Tim Duncan and Shaq travel consistently and no one says jack. This is just another case of Lebron haters picking him apart and desperately looking for a weakness. Travelling doesn't get called in the NBA. Deal with it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting El jeffe:</div><div class="quote_post">Ooh an NBA player travelled get the f*** out of here big deal, they never call travelling. It was a good game anyways.</div> The difference between most noncalls and this call was this won the game for the Cavs...a playoff game. I bet you if the clippers were on the losing end to this, you would be jumping up and down ready to yell at stern for allowing this to happen. A travel is a travel and to let a superstar do that to increase the hype around him is ridiculous. I'm actually proud of Cav fans putting their sympathy behind the Wizards for the obvious call. Reminds me of Finley in Game 5 of Rockets vs Mavs last year.
