You have to give Nike credit, they don't shy away from an issue. I loved the crack about Barkley. If you didn't see it at the end of the first quarter of the Miami/Boston game.........you will. Very interesting in a Tiger Woods post sex scandal way.
LeBron is a punk. I cannot stand him. "I am going to take my talents to South Beach" Cussouttahere LeBoner.
It smacks of the exploitative, smarmy tone that Nike also used for the Tiger Woods commercial where they used his dad's voice. LeBron still comes off like he doesn't get it IMHO.
Well, if the idea was to tell the potential customers of LeBron James' products to fuck off, I'd say the ad works. I supported the guy even after The Decision. Then, he whined about race being a factor in people disliking him, and now this ad? Somebody is giving him some terrible advice, if the idea is to become a global icon. Plus, trying to distance himself from Jordan, while injecting Jordan into this ad, is a bit pathetic, IMO.
Well, everyone knows this is Nike trying to do damage control before the Lebron stocks plummets even more
Painful ad to watch. "Who do you want me to be?" Uh, for starters how about not an arrogant whiny fucking dick? Jesus. That was as close to Jersey Shore as a shoe commercial can get. Even Kobe had the good sense to not appear in ads saying, "What, you didn't like the rape thing? Hey, man, I'm a rapist. That's what I do. Deal." LeBron should just forget advertising for a year and go out and win a shit ton of games. Then he will be deemed moral enough to sell shoes again. That's how it works.
I am just wondering if the Tiger ad campaign worked. I would not have bought anything Lebron before or after "The Decision". The new commercial just re-inforces that.
