<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MIAMI - Voshon Lenard is out for the season. But he might not be out of the three-point contest.

Lenard, a Denver Nuggets guard who suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in the opener, believes he will have healed sufficiently to defend his three-point title during February's All-Star Weekend at the Pepsi Center. And he wants the NBA to give him that opportunity.

"Yeah," Lenard said before the Nuggets faced Miami on Friday at AmericanAirlines Arena. "I'll be healthy by then."

While there's no chance Len-ard will see any game action before the Feb. 19 shooting contest, he doesn't believe putting up three-pointers would affect his overall healing process.

    "I'll be cool," he said.

Lenard underwent surgery Nov. 8, and the Nuggets announced he would be out at least six months. The Nuggets already have received an injured-player exception of $1.6 million after the NBA determined it was a season-ending injury.

"It'd be great," Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said of Lenard possibly being healthy enough to defend his title. "That'd be pretty cool."

Vandeweghe said he'll talk to NBA officials about Lenard's situation. NBA executive Stu Jackson said through a spokesperson Friday that if Lenard is healthy enough to participate in the contest and the Nuggets OK it, the league would allow him to defend his title.

There is precedent for the NBA doing something out of the norm to permit a player to defend a three-point title. In 1993, three- time defending champ Craig Hodges was not on any team's roster, but the NBA allowed him to participate. He failed in his quest to win a fourth. </div> http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/nugg...3408888,00.html

It will be sweet to see him out there and defend his title. That'd be a bright spot for him and the Nuggets organization in this so far so-so season.

yes i also think it would be pretty cool for lenard to defend his title.

If vashon wins i believe he will be able to use this situation as a confidence booster, due to his ailing njuries that have prevented him from competing in this years reguar season.

It would be nice to see him defend his title. i just hope if he does compete that it doesn't set the healing process back.

He's not stupid, if hes healthy enough where it won't have bad effects he should definately compete...if it may hurt him he won't... either way Damon Jones will win :P
